Referendum Sought To Guarantee Minority Voice On Delco Council — A petition is being circulated for a referendum to amend Delaware County’s (Pa.) home rule charter. County council would go from five to seven seats with two guaranteed to the minority party.
Members would serve four-year staggered terms. Four would be chosen at one election and three at the next.
Since the D reign began in 2019 life has gotten harder.
Residents have suffered consecutive tax hikes of 23 and 19 percent with spending being driven by incompetence.
And maybe channeling a little bit of Evita.
Examples are $19 million health department and a 1000 percent increase in legal fees.
That’s right, outside legal fees went from $402,000 in 2019 to $4.5 million in 2024.
And what has that $19 million health department got us other than overseeing the closure of most hospitals in the county in the last seven years?
Having minority voices on council won’t stop stupid policy but it would allow access to information now strangely hidden. It would also provide an official platform at meetings to articulate the stupidity.
Let it be noted that if things change this would guarantee D seats on a Republican-controlled council.
We don’t think that would be a bad thing.

Bull$***!
Packing the Council with two more $50,000 salaries is NOT a solution.
Frank Agovino needs to resign and we deserve a GOP leader with a brain that can win elections.
These people are incompetent on every level.
