Delco IU Partied At Students, Taxpayers Expense

Delco IU Partied At Students, Taxpayers Expense –The Delaware County Intermediate Unit is a great party place according to an audit released Oct. 28 by Pennsylvania Auditor General Timothy L. DeFoor.

DCIU spent nearly $40,000 for seven senior level administrators to join another Intermediate Unit at a leadership training course in Orlando, FL, that included a Ride-N-Dine event at Universal Studios featuring rides on two attractions and a five-course dinner with an open bar. DCIU also spent nearly $14,000 on a team building retreat in Annapolis, MD, which included a four and half hour cruise around the Chesapeake Bay. Additionally, DCIU used approximately $250,000 in taxpayer funds to pay for dinners at monthly board meetings, and for food and refreshments at routine staff meetings.

Hey, remember our schools are “under-funded”.

LOL

The DCIU describes itself as”a regional educational service agency” whose “mission is to provide leadership in the development and delivery of quality, cost-effective programs and services to school communities.”

The organization runs Delco’s technical high schools and the county’s early childhood programs among other things including a nurses training program.

The DCIU is funded by Delco’s public school districts, the state and the federal government with each chipping in about $40 million.

It maintains dozens of separate budgets.

As per Grok here are the salaries of the top officers at the DCIU

  • Executive Director (Maria Edelberg, who served until retiring around August 2026): Consistently reported at $198,000 annually for multiple years (including 2017–2025 data). She is listed under titles such as Intermediate Unit Executive Director or Chief School Administrator.Openthebooks
  • Interim Executive Director (Jim Scanlon, as of late 2026): Specific salary not detailed in the available public PDE/OpenTheBooks excerpts for the interim role. (Note: In a prior temporary role elsewhere, he was reported at a high daily rate, but that does not apply here.)
  • Assistant to the Executive Director / Related senior roles (e.g., Joyce Mundy): Reported around $195,000–$208,000. For example, $207,927 (2025), $201,871 (2024), and $195,991 (2023) under Supervisor/Coordinator titles.Openthebooks
  • Former Assistant Executive Director (Shellie Feola): Up to $215,237 (2022) under Intermediate Unit Assistant Executive Director or LEA Administrator titles.Openthebooks
  • Chief Financial and Operations Officer (Edward Norris) and other directors (e.g., IT, Student Services, Early Childhood, Teaching & Learning, CTE): Specific individual figures for current holders are not prominently listed in the top PDE salary rankings from available sources. Historical operations/business roles (e.g., former CFO/Operations Thomas Brown) were in the $185,000–$203,000 range in earlier years. Current directors typically fall in a broad mid-to-high five-figure to low six-figure range based on overall organizational data, but exact current numbers require a more targeted public records request.

Yeah, our schools are underfunded.

LOL

Remember this when you get your next property tax bill.

Pennsylvania Election Paranoia

Pennsylvania Election Paranoia

By Bob Small

Both major parties are planning for major Election Day irregularities.

Before we conclude its not just the Party of Hunter and his father doing this, the following quote “We’ve invested heavily in staff throughout the Commonwealth who have been recruiting and training poll workers and monitors since before the primary election,” is from PA GOP Party Spokesperson James Markley.

However, the DNC has created “Democracy Protectors” which sounds like the new Marvel political franchise. They are drumming up fear of ICE agents or “insurrectionists” or ???!!

Democratic National Committee Chair Vice Chair Jane Kleeb opines that “We know that the threat is real” so that is why “we have an Intelligence Unit”, composed of former government intelligence agents. Hopefully, it’s not a “Stupidity Unit,” but we digress.

Since this is about Pennsylvania, we need to mention the following groups discussed in this article; the Philadelphia-based Committee of Seventy, Common Cause Pennsylvania, Faiths United to Save Democracy, League of Women Voters of Pennsylvania, and Project Halo. Surely one of these groups can bring coffee and donuts for everyone serving in the polling locations.

This article also listed 20- some National groups, which you’ll have to seek on your own.

Yet another group Serve as a Pennsylvania Election Protection Legal Monitor will be there to “ensure every Pennsylvania Voter is able to vote” , despite any attempts at “voter intimidation and suppression”. From either side, of course.

The ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union) has been creating “Voter Ambassadors”. They, along with their partners Common Cause who have five major duties, including “flagging misinformation” and various forms of networking.

They also serve who sit and drive tose

who may need “a ride to the polls, dropbox, or election office”, among other places. This group is called “Promote the Vote”.

This Bill confirms that “law enforcement officers are prohibited from being within 100 feet of a polling location on Election Day.”

Hope there’s enough parking at your local polling location.
