Nicolae Ceausescu, the cruel and stupid communist ruler of Romania, wanted in 1987, to a create a majestic boulevard in the ancient city of Alba Iulia. Unfortunately, an apartment building was in the way. Rather than rip down the drab, utilitarian 7,600-ton structure and replace it elsewhere he had an elaborate rail system built to move it 150 feet.
