Following Pennsylvania’s Unendorsed Judicial Candidates

By Bob Small

Two of the judicial candidates who were not endorsed, Feb. 8 by the Pennsylvania GOP are continuing their campaigns.

Maria Battista is still in the Superior Court race and Joshua Prince continues his quest for a seat on Commonwealth Court.

Commonwealth Court  was established in 1968 and and Superior Court in 1895. They are Pennsylvania’s intermediate appellate courts.

For a not too detailed analysis see Pennsylvania Court Structure

Maria Battista was a hearing examiner for three years, among many other postings.

In a Q and A with the Legal Intelligencer, she noted she a bachelors from Clarion University, Juries Doctorate from Ohio Northern University, masters in business Administration from Westminster College and a Docorate of Education from the University of Pittsburgh.

Recently, she has worked for the Pennsylvania Coalition of Nurse Practitioners.

Josh Prince heads the Joshua Prince – Civil Rights Defense Firm, P.C.

He is a cumlaude graduate of Montreal’s McGill University and the Harrisburg branch of Widener School of Law. His law firm focuses on Civil Rights law — such as unlawful seizure and Covid mandates, and Second Amendment issues.

His Endorsemne tpage includes six state representatives, a congress member, three county officials and a a representative of the Second Amendment Foundation.

He is married to Jessica.

The endorsement meeting is where state Sen. Greg Rothman beat businessman Bill Bachenberg to be become state GOP chairman.

“The Swamp may have won today but the MPGA and MAGA movement can’t be stopped. The PA GOP establishment has awoke a pride of sleeping tigers, stay tuned,” Bachenberg said.

GOP Gets Primary Race For Delco Council

GOP Gets Primary Race For Delco CouncilLiz Piazza and Charlie Alexander say they have more than enough signatures to be on the ballot for the May 20 Republican primary election.

They seek the Democrat-held seats on Delaware County, Pa., Council that are being vacated by corporatist Kevin Madden and contested by incumbent Richard Womack.

Liz is endorsed by the Delco GOP.

Charlie, not so much.

Also in the race is Upper Darby Council President Brian Burke, also endorsed by the GOP. We expect the shooting, however, to be almost entirely between Charlie and Liz.

Challenges to Charlie’s petitions are expected. He appears confident, though, that he has the 250 needed to be on the ballot.

We are staying out of it and writing in Sharon Devaney.

The Democrats have endorsed county Controller Joanne Phillips to replace Madden.

Losers Alienate Allies; Winners Don’t

Losers Alienate Allies; Winners Don’t — Our political advice for today is don’t alienate allies.

Actually, the smart ones who seek office don’t merely keep their friends during disagreements but turn their former opponents into friends.

There does seem to be some very stupid people seeking office in Delaware County, Pa.

The universal issue is the ever-growing tax burden caused by corruption and greed. Much of what the Democrats have been spending since they took over has been going to places it doesn’t belong.

Really, why else would they have appointed a man as register of wills under whose watch money in municipal bank accounts was not what had been expected in Upper Darby?

This corruption should be enough for a change if the public is properly informed.

Will they be?

That’s something worth pondering.

There are other issues, however, that would also strike a chord should they enter the converstation.

Consider illegal immigration. One fellow who was very good on the issue — he actually made his name on it — told the The Philadelphia Inquirer that it is not a priority as it is handled by the feds.

What’s up with that, Charlie? The County wasn’t setting disturbing policies, after all?

Or are you now “strategizing” like the political hacks we’ve come to hate?

And then there is election integrity, an important issue that might not have much traction in the general population.

There are those, however, who know how critical it is, and that very simple things can be done to make Delco’s elections much more secure. Start by firing Election Director Jim Allen. Then ask why Delco fights rulings by the state Open Records Office regarding election records. Finish up by questioning why Dems don’t seem concerned by the failures of the neato election tech gizmos they adopted.

Actually, they can also ask why the County is so intent on enlarging precincts and why poll watchers don’t have the rights at the central ballot counting center as they do at traditional precincts.

Actually these issues can get traction with the proper promotion.

But these aren’t being talked about. What’s happening is that a certain segment is now attacking those who refuse to bow before them and sprinkle them with holy water.

Why? Hurt feelings? A smart candidate will understand that it’s he who is supposed to have thick skin and it is up to him to make sure feelings of potential supporters are not hurt.

C’est la vie. It’s not happening.

Maybe the issue that upsets us the most in Delaware County is the tyranny and corruption concerning Delaware County Youth Services.

Charlie Alexander gave some powerful and personal testimony about what goes on there. Read it here.

So has Billy “Jack” Ruane, which can be found here.

You think maybe they might concentrate on the things they have in common.

Meaghan Wagner Pledges To Torment Rongione In Register of Wills Race

Meaghan Wagner Pledges To Torment Rongione In Register of Wills Race — The Delaware County Republicans, last night, Feb. 24 picked Liz Piazza as their second County Council endorsement and endorsed Upper Darby Councilwoman Meaghan Wagner for register of wills.

The GOP endorsed, Feb. 18, former Upper Darby Council President Brian Burke and Chester Upland School Director Tasliym Morales for the two County Council seats up for election.

Ms. Morales, however, stepped down after a social media smear campaign implying she supported DEI and was a closet Democrat.

She addressed party leaders, last night, with a generous and passionate plea for unity. She noted that the allegations against her were false and that her day job is in jeopardy due to her opposition to DEI.

Also addressing the leaders, was activist Charlie Alexander of Marple. He had earlier sought GOP endorsement for County Council but now said he wanted the GOP to make no primary endorsements and would reject one if given him.

Charlie made several good points about governance in his statement, though. He also noted how skillful use of social media can overcome financial disparity.

Also seeking the endorsement was Sharon Devaney of Springfield. The reasons why she was running can be found here.

Sharon got the votes from the party organizations of Swarthmore, Chester and Newtown.

Ms. Wagner’s statement was a sledgehammer against Democrat incumbent Vincent A. Rongione.

Rongione had been chief administrative officer of Upper Darby until he had to resign in disgrace in 2023. Municipal bank accounts were found far lower than they should have been. Ms. Wagner says the missing money was in the millions.

Rongione was appointed to the post a year later after incumbent Rachel Ezzell Berry stepped down to take a seat on Common Pleas Court.

Ms. Wagner said he was “punished up” as Democrats often do to those caught doing wrong.

She said she will enjoying spending the months through November — figuratively — kneeing Rongione in the groin.

Why I’m Running For Delco Council

Why I’m Running For Delco Council

By Sharon Devaney

I am running for Delaware County (Pa.) Council. Here is what I plan to say at tonight’s endorsement meeting for the Delaware County Republican party.

My start in politics concerned my kids and the Haverford public schools. Granted schools are not a County Council matter but this is when I became politically active circa 2014.

I was an Obama voter, by the way, and never supported a Republican until Donald Trump in 2016.

My rambunctious son was declared to have attention deficit disorder and they pushed hard to put him on meds. I objected. To my shock, I found myself pressured by the faculty and administration to the point where it reached intimidation and bullying. I held my ground, but parents rights were not what those running things respected.

I then became aware of books being assigned that were, to be polite, sexually inappropriate. They seemed like a grooming effort.

I again objected. To my still puzzlement the administration and staff dismissed my concerns. This was not an attempt to ban books from the library but a desire to see parents consulted and warned about curriculum.

One of the administrators with whom I most butted heads was the Haverford High vice principal. This man was eventually found putting sexualized photos of himself on Instagram where he was friends with many students.

He was defended by the administration until one Christmas when he published a photo of himself wearing only a Santa cap and Christmas lights.

He had to be let go, at this point. I understand, though, he found himself a nice job in public education in New Jersey.

The other issue for which I became a bit notorious was illegal immigration.

On April 10, 2017, I was taking my daughter to my parents before going to work when my Toyota was t-boned at Lawrence and Ellis roads. The other driver turned out to be an illegal immigrant. She did not have insurance or a drivers license. She never passed a drivers test. She was speeding. The police at the scene angrily told me they could do nothing due to policies created to protect those here illegally.

If this was you or I we would find ourselves intimately involved with the criminal justice system.

This woman escaped all consequence.

Thank God, she hit my side else my daughter would likely have been killed. As it is, I am crippled. I can no longer run. I fear walking on ice and using escalators. I almost always use the handicapped ramp.

What happened to me was not a one-off. I’ve heard from many who have had similar experiences about the unwillingness of law enforcement to arrest illegals.

I am not opposed to immigrants or anyone here legally, but what has been going on in this county is social suicide. Willfully ignoring the law is social suicide.

Regarding, the 2025 election the big issue is the massive property taxes imposed by the Democrat controlled council, and the big tax hikes coming in the next few years.

I think we all hope this wakes the citizens of Delco up and they demand a change.

Democrat Richard Womack is seeking re-election. He is a nice guy and he voted against the 23.8 percent tax hike his fellow Ds imposed on us.

Richard, however, was a rubber stamp for every wild spending project passed by council during his term and he does not deserve to be returned.

And we really don’t want Joanne Phillips of Middletown to be elected. She most certainly will continue the impoverishment of Delco’s middle and working classes.

JOE Post Going Uncontested In Delco — Media GOP Chairman Michael Straw has let us know that numerous extremely vital judge of election (JOE) posts are uncontested in Delaware County.

The Democrats, well socialists, who run the county fill the spots if no one is elected.

Just letting all patriots know.

It is a paid position and only 10 signatures are needed to get on a ballot. First day to file petitions are Feb. 18 and the deadline to submit them is March 11.
