Charlie Off Ballot In Delco — The Delaware County (Pa) Republican Party has successfully removed Charlie Alexander of Marple from the ballot for the May 20 primary election.
Despite Charlie getting 1,500 petition signatures for the County Council race.
The challenge concerned the filing of a financial statement.
It was likely an inadvertent misreading of requirements and easily corrected.
Those who enforce the election code are notorious for their insistence on obeying every jot and tittle of it.
At least for those who run against the establishment.
We are not fans of Charlie and we are confident that he would have fairly lost to party-endorsed Liz Piazza and Brian Burke.
It remains, however, an extremely boneheaded move by GOP leaders which they have compounded with a crowing statement dissing Charlie’s supporters, most of whom are honest, very hard working activists and wonderful people.
You know, the kind you want on your side.
We plan on writing in Sharon Devaney and then backing the GOP ticket for the general as it is about the only way of saving Delco from the mind-blowing corruption that effuses the county Democrats like odor from a rock-concert port-a-potty.
We’d also like to point out that we generally like GOP Chairman Frank Agovino and his leadership team. We have no plans to pile on other than to point out that they really screwed up here.

Leah Hoopes’ comments on the facebook page are way over the top. I’m glad that Joy Schwartz commented and that Mike Straw guy. Both seem to have all their screws in.
I wish Sharon had gotten signatures. I would have signed for her.
Same.
The disingenuous GOP press release states Mr Alexander was removed for a “total failure” to comply with state law.
That is patently false. It is my understanding the same paperwork was required to be filed in two seperate offices. While Mr Alexander did file the appropriate paperwork in the first office it was not filed in the second. Hardly a “total failure.” Words mean things.
This is why a sizeable number of Republicans (not a “small but vocal minority – the vocal minority is the proverbial tip of the iceberg) despise the Delaware County GOP. Regardless how anyone feels about Mr Alexander’s candidacy. Never forget goofy Andy Reily’s “I’ll bet you a steak dinner” nonsence comment to Dom Giordano. This is just more of the same.
Republicans under Frank Agovino’s so called “leadership” haven’t won diddly squat since he took over as chair. What’s the definition of insanity. It’s past time for Frank Agovino to resign. Lead, follow or get out of the way.
That sounds like a failure. If he filed the right way he’d have not beenn challenged by the establishment. He who strikes the king best not miss and he did
1,500 petitions signatures does not constitute a “total” failure.
Once again I will clearly state words mean things. The press release could have read “failed to file correctly” however they choose to use the phrase “total failure” in an effort to further discredit this candidate.
Words mean things.
Who knows if all 1500 signatures were even valid though. Whatever your saying is basically splitting hairs. He filed wrong and a court found he filed wrong. That getss you off the ballot.
False. Not splitting hairs, using the English language correctly and accurately.
Your ends justifying the means attitude is duly noted.
Also, don’t forget, words mean things.
Much like Steve Bannon, there may be better opportunities for Charlie other than being strapped by the protocol of being an elected official. Now is the time to reflect, streamline and continue moving forward with his strengths of investigating and reporting. I see likeability and relatability to the average voter. Market the hell out of yourself, Charlie. Run for office later.
