Pa. To Use UC Money To Save State Jobs

The State House has approved a bill to take money from unemployment compensation taxes and use it keep workers at unemployment centers from losing their jobs and pay for “infrastructure” improvements to the service centers, reports State Rep. Jim Cox (R-129).

That would be a definition of irony if it were written by Ambrose Bierce.

Cox says House Bill 26 would divert a portion of employee unemployment compensation taxes to be deposited into a newly established fund known as the Service and Infrastructure Fund.

Money deposited into this fund would allow the Department of Labor and Industry to improve the “quality, efficiency and timeliness of services” provided by unemployment compensation centers, Cox said.

The bill aims to save the department from unemployment compensation service center closures and personnel cuts that would further degrade services to claimants, Cox said.

So were employers paying too much in unemployment comp taxes allowing
for a surplus to be used to save these state workers and improve the
infrastructure as per the bill? Was there a surplus in the unemployment
fund with our great booming economy?

Maybe if the employers paid lower taxes they would not have to lay so many people off and we would not need so many state workers in the unemployment office. Was that considered?

Ninety-nine weeks of “funemployement”. Wheeeee.

Hey, what’s money but magic green paper anyway?

The measure now goes before the Senate for consideration.

Fools The Rule Us Reprise

Richard Windsor received the Scholar of Ethical Behavior certificate from the Environmental Protection Agency for 2010, 2011, 2012 based on his email conversations with environmental activists and Obama administration officials.

He also was certified for completion of training courses in the management of e-mail records, cyber-security awareness, and a counter-terror initiative that urges federal employees to report suspicious activity.

He doesn’t exist. It was an alias that Lisa Jackson, former head of the EPA and now an environmental adviser to Apple, used.

What kind of bizarre ego would a leader have to allow the awarding of such honors to her pseudonym?

It certainly reveals the value of having an EPA certificate of cyber-security awareness. It seems that the standards they have for “ethical behavior”are based on agreeing with the boss.

Obama Says No Attacks Since 9/11/2001

Obama Says No Attacks Since 9/11/2001 — Hey, have you heard “there have been no large-scale attacks” on the United States since 9/11/2001?

That’s what President Obama said at yesterday’s (May 23) national security speech at National Defense University.

So next time you go to some major sporting or cultural event and see some swarthy guy leave a backpack and walk away, don’t sweat it.

The real mystery is how the people who voted for this guy can show their faces in public without passing out from the shame of their deed.

Medical Device Tax $194 Million Per Month

Medical Device Tax $194 Million Per Month — Senator Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) says the medical device tax that took effect in January as part of Obamacare is expected to cost device manufacturers roughly $194 million per month putting 43,000 American jobs at risk.

He says that in Pennsylvania, the medical device tax will cost our economy $100 million a year, causing job losses and harming the ability of companies to expand and hire.

“I have heard from many manufacturers including Fujirebio Diagnostics based in Malvern, B. Braun located in the Lehigh Valley, and Cook Medical with a location in Vandergrift that this tax is already eliminating Pennsylvania jobs, undermining our economy, and driving up the cost of care for patients,” he said. “I continue to work to repeal the medical device tax that was created in the president’s health care law. We must eliminate a burdensome provision of this law which forces manufacturers of medical devices – ranging from cochlear implants to pacemakers to artificial joints – to pay a 2.3 percent tax on their sales.”

Prisoner Unemployment Benefits Would End With Bill

Prisoner Unemployment Benefits Would End With Bill — The Pennsylvania House voted unanimously last week in support of legislation to increase penalties on individuals who commit willful fraud to obtain unemployment compensation benefits, including cases of fraud by incarcerated individuals, reports State Rep. Jim Cox (R-129).

House Bill 403 would impose an additional 52-week penalty for claimants who illegally apply for benefits while in prison. This penalty would apply to these same individuals in the future should they become eligible and attempt to apply for unemployment benefits again.

In addition to fraud by prisoners, House Bill 403 also addresses other types of fraud. It would increase the monetary penalty from its current range of $100 to $1,000 to $500 to $1,500 for claimants who knowingly make false statements to obtain unemployment benefits.

It also would increase the minimum number of penalty weeks from two to 10 and remove the current four-year statute of limitations. The bill also would allow for penalties to be collected through liens, civil action or any other means available by law for up to 12 years after the end of the benefit year.

House Bill 403 now heads to the Senate for consideration.

Humanity Getting Dumber We Are DEVO

Humanity Getting Dumber We Are DEVO — Stanford University geneticist Dr. Gerald Crabtree reports that the human race is losing its cognitive capabilities and becoming more emotionally unstable, a claim that should be apparent to anyone who has followed the last election or has attempted to watch David Letterman.

Or read the Washington Post recently for that matter.

Crabtree wants every man, woman and mutant on this planet to know the truth about devolution.

“They tell us that we lost our tails, evolving up from little snails. I say it’s all just wind in sails,” Crabtree said.

He then spelled it out: “We are devo. D.E.V.O.”

Actually, he didn’t say that, which something that we feel is important to note as a Washington Post reporter might read it here and report that he did.

Popular culture figured devolution out way back in 1977. Here’s the video:

Al Jazeera Hired Palin Said WaPo LOL

The Washington Post was once the most respected newspaper in the world. It’s ombudsman, Patrick Pexton, just apologized for a story it ran claiming that Sarah Palin was hired by Al Jazeera America.

Reporter Suzi Parker read the claim on the satirical website “The Daily Current” without realizing it was a joke. It went past her editor Melinda Henneberger as well.

Pexton will be leaving the paper March 1 and there are no indications that he will be replaced. Miss Parker and Miss Henneberger, however, appear to be remaining.

Hat tip Breitbart.com

BTW, the Post, which is a mouthpiece for the Democratic Party, hence a voice of the “little guy”, “working man” etc. has just laid off several dozen people on the business end. What hypocritical greed. Why couldn’t its filthy rich Democrat owners take a cut in pay to save these jobs, hmmm?

In other news, the Post is looking to sell its iconic downtown office building.

Why not just close the whole thing? When it reports as fact things that were written to be unbelievable, and laughable, fiction, then there is not much point to its existence as a reliable conveyor of information.

Yvette Clarke: Free The Slaves From The Dutch

Congresswoman Yvette Clarke is a Democrat who represents New York’s 11th District which is in Brooklyn. She consented to an interview with Steve Colbert of Comedy Central and when prompted about what she would do if she could return to 1898 when the borough became part of New York City said that she would free the slaves from the Dutch.

See it yourself.

Fear not for the Republic with such people writing our laws.
That was sarcasm.
BTW, she’s not embarrassed. She tweeted her supporters to watch it saying: My interview on The Colbert Report airs tonight at 11:30pm on Comedy Central. It will also be available online at

Mugabe Tourism Ambassador UNbelievable  — Zimbabwe “President” Robert Mugabe, who is apparently that nation’s president for life and a known tyrant, has been named an “international tourism ambassador” by the UN World Tourism Organization.

The useful life of the United Nations, assuming it ever had one, has ended.
