Three years later, however, he shot and killed his boss along with another man. For this he was hanged.

William Lawrence Sr Omnibit 11-28-15 John Kendrick was an American Revolutionary War captain who when the hostilities ended became a trader in the Pacific operating out of the Sandwich Islands.

John Kendrick was an American Revolutionary War captain who when the hostilities ended became a trader in the Pacific operating out of the Sandwich Islands.

A battle there between the natives was won by the side he and the other traders supported. To celebrate, he fired a 13-gun salute.

His fellow trader gave him one in return, unfortunately,  forgetting to unload one of the guns.

And so ended the career of Captain Kendrick.
