Delco Must Act On Election Concerns

Delco Must Act On Election Concerns — Delaware County, Pa., Council was schooled on trust, last night, May 1, when Joy Schwartz of Upper Darby pointed out the restrictions imposed by election observers at the county’s ballot counting center at the Wharf in Chester.

Mrs. Schwartz was an observer during the April 23 primary. She said observers’ were required to leave cell phones and purses in their cars, and they were confined to a pen far from the counting.

“We can see absolutely nothing,” she said.

The Wharf is where all ballots from mailboxes and dropboxes are processed. State law exempts it from the rules governing precincts. This means pollwatchers have no power or right to access.

County Council must change this.

Assuming it wants its elections to be trusted.

Carris Kocher of Concord pointed out that Delaware County has almost a quarter of Pennsylvania’s dropboxes.

This is more than Philadelphia and Pittsburgh combined.

There is little need for dropboxes. Mailboxes are accessible 24/7 and are ubiquitous. Dropboxes are a costly and unnecessary expense. They invariably create distrust, and complicate the logistics of the ballot stream pointlessly extending election night.

County Council should get rid of the dropboxes.

Barb Lewis of Radnor pointed out that the public is being kept from seeing the workings of the voting machines.

Good point. Why should the IP concerns of private corporations take precedence over election transparency? C’mon, Mr. and Ms. and Whatever Democrat. Answer that one.

Ms. Lewis wants to eliminate voting machines and return to handcounting, as did Mrs. Schwartz.

As does Scott Thomas of Marple. Thomas is a judge of elections. He says the machines are overly complicated.

Kathy from Haverford said there is plenty of proof elections are stolen. She also noted that Delco has yet to remove its restrictions from posting on its Facebook page.

If Delco addresses the reasonable concerns of the skeptics, the skepticism goes away.

Seriously, what is the big secret involving Fort Orange Press?

  1. I have been informed by a good source that the choice of drop-boxes or no drop boxes is up to the township. Rather than beating your head against the Council, try your township first and pressure them to tell the County to DROP the dropboxes.

  2. Here is a link to the PA government site to report election violations.

If every Delco person who witnessed an election irregularity will post a comment, there will be so many that it cannot be ignored. Absent that, should we ever GET to a courtroom, the judge will say, “Well, did you ever complain? Show me.” And we will have no evidence that we even noticed a problem. Don’t leave this stone unturned, Delco patriots.

  3. Yeah, this game they play is called “GIVE AN INCH, TAKE A FOOT.” It’s very similar to whack-a-mole, but doesn’t have to be played in person. Every time we get some small correction to an electoral outrage, they give the inch, but then take another foot by, as is shown above, making it impossible for the observers to actually observe anything meaningful. The latest foot they want to take is to allow mail-in canvassing to begin a week before election “day.” While the only way to restore election integrity and the confidence of the aware public in our electoral process is to restore same-day paper ballot hand counting, a good interim step would be to deliver the mailed-in ballots to the precinct they derive from to be fed into the machines there instead of centrally. We should also make sure the outer envelope signatures match the registrants signature just like for in-person voters. Not perfect, but a hell of a lot better than where we are or where we are presently headed!

    1. And here we go…. another foot about to be taken! This is courtesy of Beth Roth, a true Patriot:

HB 847 passed the House yesterday and is headed for the PA Senate. Representatives Shelby Labs, Kristin Marcell and Craig Staats voted NO on this bill. Tina Davis voted YES.

I am strongly suggesting that you only call your Senator today and let him know that you are opposed to the passage of HB 847 for the following reasons:

      Jarrett Coleman: (717) 787-1349
      Frank Farry: (717) 787-5072
      Steven Santarsiero: (717) 787-7305

On Wednesday, the Democrat-controlled PA House passed HB 847, which, if approved by the Senate and signed into law by Governor Shapiro, would permit mail-in ballots to be counted beginning seven days prior to election day. Currently, pre-canvassing can only start at 7 a.m. on election day.

Pre-canvassing before election day is widely regarded as a potential risk to election integrity. This is because employees at county ballot processing centers could potentially access the results of mail-in and absentee ballots in real-time before election day.

The Democrats did not make any concessions or compromises on this bill. IF it had included provisions for mandatory voter ID and proof of citizenship for voter registration, it might have garnered bipartisan support.

Given the party-line vote on this bill, its success in the GOP-controlled Senate seems unlikely. However, we can not afford to be complacent.

This is a CALL TO ACTION: Every Pennsylvanian should contact their Senator’s office by phone or email to demand that HB 847 be rejected in the PA Senate! Please call and make your voice be heard.
