Frozen Beats Thawed Regarding Steaks

Frozen Beats Thawed Regarding Steaks

Cooks Illustrated has found that it is better to cook your steak frozen — albeit it might take just a little longer — than thawed.

Frozen-cooked steaks lost least moisture and were more evenly cooked.

Cooking it frozen means you don’t have to remember to put it in the frig the night before so we can call it progress.

One caveat: make sure the steaks are frozen before being wrapped and bagged for long-term storage.

And so much for conventional wisdom.

Delaware River Bass Paradise

Mike Iaconelli

Mike Iaconelli celebrating in the Delaware River Bass Paradise

Kudos to Mike Iaconelli of Pittsgrove, N.J. for winning this year’s four-day Bassmaster Elite Series fishing competition for the Delaware River.

Iaconelli took 47 pounds and 14 ounces of the fish from the river and tributaries in the event that ended Sunday, Aug. 10.

Iaconelli gets $100,000 and an instant qualification for the 2015 world championship, the Bassmaster Classic.

His prime spot was the mouth of Timber Creek in New Jersey. All his catch was largemouth bass.

He caught 80 percent of his fish on two lures: a half-founce, small-profile brown-purple finesse jig that he’s helping design for Missile Jigs; and 3/8 ounce Berkley Havoc Pit Boss  that was green pumpkin and blue metalflake.

Osama Bin Laden Crosses US Border

Jame O’Keefe of Project Veritas decided to see what all the fuss was about concerning the security of the Mexican border.

So he crossed it.

Dress as Osama Bin Laden.

He didn’t have any problems.

Pennsylvania OKs Tesla But Keeps Ban On Ford

SB 1409 allowing Tesla Motors of California to sell its hip electric cars directly to customers in Pennsylvania became  Act 125 on July 9.

Today’s, Aug. 11, The Philadelphia Inquirer had a story praising the new law that amended the 1983 Board of Vehicles Act prohibiting car makers to sell directly to customers.

We think it’s great too, but why can’t Ford, GM, Toyota etc. have the same right?

Mark Gillen (R-128) who with Daryl Metcalfe (R-12) were the only nays in the State House wondered why Tesla gets this special privilege.

Good point Mark.

Former Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Gary Cobb is seeking the vacated Congressional seat long held by Rob Andrews in the staunchly Democrat 1st District of New Jersey.

He’s running as a Republican. Cobb, like many, started off as a D went to the GOP  after watching how the policies of the Democrat Party destroyed African American families.

“(They were) an incentive for the man to leave the home, and it’s destroyed African-American families throughout the country,” he said.

“All my brothers and sisters have gone to college,” Cobb said. “The reason we were able to have some success was our dad was there, there was some discipline in the home.”

The 1st District includes Camden County and  parts of Burlington and Gloucester counties..

He will face state Sen. Donald Norcross, who is brother of George Norcross, the one-percenter Democrat power broker who just lost control of the Philadelphia Inquirer and Philadelphia Daily News.

The publications’ parent company, Interstate General Media, is now under the sole control of H.F. “Gerry” Lenfest, who bought out the shares of Lewis Katz following his death.
