Cut, Cap And Balance Pledge

Cut, Cap And Balance Pledge
By Bob Guzzardi

Congressman Mike Kelly (R-PA3) and US Senator Pat Toomey have signed the Cut, Cap and Balance Pledge for Fiscal Common Sense and for or the productive Forgotten Taxpayer.

FYI The Democrats have signed the “Spend, Borrow and Tax Pledge”

THE PLEDGE

I pledge to urge my Senators and Member of the House of Representatives to oppose any debt limit increase unless all three of the following conditions have been met:

  • Cut – Substantial cuts in spending that will reduce the deficit next year and thereafter.
  • Cap – Enforceable spending caps that will put federal spending on a path to a balanced budget.
  • Balance – Congressional passage of a Balanced Budget Amendment to the U.S. Constitution — but only if it includes both a spending limitation and a super-majority for raising taxes, in addition to balancing revenues and expenses.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

1. Sign the Pledge   2. Spread the word on Facebook and Twitter

Why Did Pa. Senate Strip Computers From Gaming Money?

Why Did Pa. Senate Strip Computers From Gaming Money?
By Bob Guzzardi

The Pennsylvania Senate, June 28, stripped from the $62.823 million appropriations bill  for the state Gaming Control Board an amendment that would have allocated $1.5 million for a computer system for investigation and enforcement purposes.

The Vereb Amendment would effectively transfer investigation and enforcement of gaming to the Office of the Pennsylvania Attorney General.

So, what’s up with that? They computers would have separated the investigation and enforcement branch of gaming from the executive and policy branches. This would have alleviated the conflicts of interest found by Pennsylvania Grand Jury.

The bill, SB1062,  now returns to the House Rules Committee.

The amendment has been called the Vereb Amendment in honor of Montco Rep. Mike Vereb (R-150) albeit Curt Schroder (R-155) deserves a lot of credit as well.

Giving this money to the Gaming Control Board without this amendment would be like giving Chivas Regal to an alcoholic or mailing heroin to an addict.

The not-so-good-guys in this story are Senate leaders Jake Corman,  Dominic Pileggi,  Joe Scarnati, Jane Earll,  and Tommy Tomlinson of Bensalem.

So, again, what’s up with cutting funds for a computer system aimed at keeping tabs on an agency with known issues?

As I have said a zillion times, it makes no sense to force The Forgotten Taxpayer to fund billion dollar tax exempt private educational corporations.

And, there is another reason: Money is Fungible. The geniuses Mike Turzai and Bill Adolph seem to have overlooked this.

Money to the University of Pennsylvania is money to the Obama Fundraising Network. How many dollars does any Republican raise from Penn’s faculty, administrators or alumni?

Collectivists and Statists are not the Republican base. Does Amy Gutmann or Anne Weaver Hart or Graham Spanier or Mark Nordenberg listen to  Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck or to NPR? Are they Anthropogenic Global Warmists? I think so.

Mike Turzai and the House Republicans are planning to give them thirty two million and two thousand dollars.

These people despise ALL Republicans, except Jon Huntsman, as racist, homophobic, misogynistic, stupid bigots. They might be right about “stupid”.

How stupid are they? Are any of the Republican House leadership concerned that they are giving Obama Democrats $30, 002,000 a financial stick to beat us with.

NewsWorks reports: “President Obama will come to the home of Comcast Executive Vice President David L. Cohen next Thursday for an intimate but deadly-serious fundraiser, Tom Fitzgerald reports. It will cost you 10 grand a plate, but if you can come up with or raise $100,000, you can attend a “VIP clutch” with the president.”

Infiltrating the highest levels of the US government has never been easier. Where is the much maligned Marine Joe McCarthy who, for alleged faults did expose treason when we need him?  There were Soviet Communist agents at the highest levels in the Roosevelt and Truman Administrations – Harry Dexter White — weren’t there?

Whom should we rely on? The New York Times which exposed Soviet famine genocide against Ukrainians?

Like Edgar Allen Poe’s Purloined Letter, the crime is in plain sight.

For the historically illiterate the thing about exposing the genocide of the Ukrainians was sarcasm. The Times actually won a Pulitzer Prize for reporting that it wasn’t happening.

From American Thinker: The Muslim Brotherhood and Weiner by Eileen F. Toplansky  19 June 2011: “Couple this with the Clinton family playing a key role in promoting Fethullah Gulen who has worked assiduously to overthrow Turkey’s secular government.  Gulen, who currently resides in Pennsylvania, has told his followers that in order for “worldwide Islamic domination to succeed, every method and path is acceptable, including lying to people.”

Fethullah Gulen lives in Saylorsburg, Pa.  Only an Islamaphobic bigot could think this Turkish National  is a threat to the United States some say.

In March of this year, the FBI was investigating the more than 120 charter schools in the United States that are linked to Gulen’s movement.  These schools, funded with millions of taxpayer dollars, promote Gulen’s worldview that is both anti-Israel and anti-America.  In fact, in 2010 it was reported that Bill Gates had given almost $11 million to the Cosmos Foundation, which is a Gulen enterprise.

Moreover, one needs to question why Huma Abedin, a member of a family of devout Muslims, would ever marry a Jewish Congressman — in a ceremony officiated by Bill Clinton.  Sharia law clearly forbids Muslims from marrying non-believers, so what does this portend?

Furthermore, when Huma Abedin accompanied Hillary Clinton to the Dar El-Hekma women’s college in Saudi Arabia, where Huma’s mother is co-founder and vice dean, it was reported that  “Hillary explained that Huma holds an important and sensitive position in her office.”  Where was the scrutiny?

Why are so many at the highest levels of American government ignoring the methodology of Islamists like Gulen, who has declared that the best way to seize power is to lie in wait “with the patience of a spider” in order to “wait for people to get caught in the web”?  Is Clinton so naïve?
Thus, Huma Abedin’s position with Clinton in the State Department, as well as her marriage to Representative Tony Weiner, has given her enormous exposure to state secrets and access to the inner workings of Congress.

This would be unsettling enough if it were not also for Obama’s latest appointee.  The 44th president has just appointed Azizah al-Hibri to the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom.  Al-Hibri believes that sharia law is superior to American law.  Yet, al-Hibri is only one of the pro-sharia adherents that Obama has placed in influential positions since he became president.  Dalia Mogahed was one of the earliest appointees and as Nonie Darwish has written, “[t]he empowerment of Radical Islam under the Obama administration” is extremely disturbing.

Last year, Obama appointed two devout Muslims to Homeland Security.  Obama’s record concerning Islamic terror was alarming from the beginning of his term and it has only become more entrenched.  Congressman Keith Ellison aka Keith Hakim, who converted to Islam, is already in place in Congress.  His connections to CAIR are troubling.

Is the Weiner scandal really covering up a far more disturbing scenario whereby jihadists continue to infiltrate and influence American universities, military installations, homeland security, even local police forces, all while the press ignores the steady encroachment of these radicals who seek to overturn and destroy America?

The disgraceful indifference by the general press to Weiner’s in-laws and their connections to the Muslim Brotherhood keeps eroding America’s ability to rout those who wish to see her destroyed.

Fethullah Gulen has exhorted his followers to “move in the arteries of the system without anyone noticing [their] existence until [they] reach all the power centers…until the conditions are ripe…”  Can America continue to close its eyes to this deliberate hibernation strategy of our enemies? “

Poor Children Take Back Seat To Greedy Academics

Poor Children Take Back Seat To Greedy Academics

UnitePa, an influential Tea Party organization, makes a valid point that the school choice bill SB 1 does not address the plight of those barely above the poverty line who are trapped in violent and educationally failed schools by leaving 30,000 children still trapped in them.

School choice vouchers of $5,000 as proposed by Rep. Curt Schroder’s HB 1678 and 1679 would save these children and cost $150 million if all took them.

The House Republicans, under the leadership of Majority Leader Mike Turzai and House Appropriations Chair Bill Adolph  fully  support  transferring $593 million to certain billionaire liberal Democratic tax exempt private corporations namely the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Pittsburgh, Temple University and Penn State.

If this transfer of tax money was redirected from these extremely rich institutions to struggling parents via an expanded voucher program, the children would be saved and there would be money to spare.

In fact, vouchers could be offered to 60,000 children and there would still be money left to give to the rich limo liberals if so desired, although it is still not clear as why such a desire would exist.

We should ask Penn President Amy Gutmann, who is paid $1,367,000, if she deny poor and lower middle class kids an opportunity to escape violent and educationally failed schools many in Penn’s own neighborhood?

I don’t think she would be that selfish, do you?

We are worried about ‘the cow’ when it is all about the ‘Ice Cream.’

The most eye-opening civics lesson I ever had was while teaching third grade this year…

The presidential election was heating up and some of the children showed an interest.

I decided we would have an election for a class president.

We would choose our nominees. They would make a campaign speech and the class would vote.

To simplify the process, candidates were nominated by other class members.

We discussed what kinds of characteristics these students should have.

We got many nominations and from those, Jamie and Olivia were picked to run for the top spot.

The class had done a great job in their selections. Both candidates were good kids.

I thought Jamie might have an advantage because he got lots of parental support.

I had never seen Olivia’s mother.

The day arrived when they were to make their speeches.

Jamie went first.

He had specific ideas about how to make our class a better
Place. He ended by promising to do his very best.

Everyone applauded and he sat down.

Now it was Olivia’s turn to speak.

Her speech was concise. She said, “If you will vote for me, I will give you ice cream.  “She sat down.

The class went wild. “Yes! Yes! We want ice cream.”

She surely would say more. She did not have to.

A discussion followed. How did she plan to pay for the ice cream? She wasn’t sure.

Would her parents buy it or would the class pay for it…She didn’t know.

The class really didn’t care. All they were thinking about was ice cream…

Jamie was forgotten. Olivia won by a landslide.

Every time Barack Obama opened his mouth he offered ice cream and 52 percent of the people reacted like nine year olds.

They want ice cream.

The other 48 percent know they’re going to have to feed the cow and clean up the mess.”

This is the ice cream Obama promised us!

Remember, the government cannot give anything to anyone that they have not first taken away from someone else.

Did you vote for the ice cream?

THAT, MY FRIEND, IS HOW DEMOCRATS GET ELECTED.

Gleason Is Reason For Tax Subsidies To Wealthy Penn

By Bob Guzzardi

Annually, Pennsylvania’s General Assembly, dutifully, robotically, votes to give millions of middle class taxpayer dollars to the billion-dollar tax exempt University of Pennsylvania. Why? It makes not economic sense to give millions to Penn which is the second largest employer in Pennsylvania with a budget of $6.07 billion and an endowment of $5.6 billion and whose uberLiberal Obama-supporting President  Amy Gutmann is paid $1,367,000 annually.

It makes no sense to subsidize millionaires with tax dollars.

Pennsylvania, obviously, has other priorities.

Perhaps, like the millions that Republican Senate Appropriations Chairman Sen. Jake Corman enables for Penn State or the millions that Republican House Majority Leader Mike Turzai enables for University of Pittsburgh, there is political return on the investment.

Well, no. At least those schools have an affiliation with the state.

But Penn? There are few, if any, Republicans and even fewer conservatives on the Penn faculty and the students are reliably leftists and in any event, there is, likely, a miniscule number of Republicans or conservatives. So what political return for a Republican-controlled legislature?

None. No political reason.

But there has to be a reason and that is liberal establishment Republican Rob Gleason’s narrow, selfish, self-promoting, opportunistic self-interest and self-aggrandizement.

Gleason is the chairman of the state Republican Party.

He graduated from the Wharton School in 1961 and was appointed a trustee of Penn in 1998.

Rob Gleason wins.  Middle Class Pays.

Candidates To Support In Montco

By Bob Guzzardi

Not only does Gordon Clement, MD, have superior qualifications for the job of Montgomery County coroner, he reminds us that one of the roles of coroner is to remember those people and families who have been left behind.

Clement is the child of immigrants who came to America because they wanted something better and were willing to work for it.

Expertise and skill are critical to getting a result but they are not enough. The patient, the client, the customer has to believe that you know what he or she needs. It is a lot more than skill, or expertise or a product. All are in the service of an individual with all his and her complexity. I have met Dr. Clement who is truly a gentle  man, compassionate and a super nice guy. Dr. Clement is exceptionally well qualified to be Montgomery County’s coroner.

Every Vote Counts
Dr. Clement is out meeting voters. In 2007, he lost by 586 out of 148,360 votes demonstrating that every vote counts. Coroner
Walter I. Hoffman (D). . .  74,473
Gordon S. Clement (R). . . 73,877

There were 153,133 votes cast for DA in that same election.

Another candidates for Montgomery County candidates to get behind is Moon Ahn, for clerk of  courts.

Ahn is a life-long Republican and a first generation immigrant.  Like many of our parents and grandparents, he and his family came to America because he wanted something better and was willing to work for it.

Yahoo/ Agence France-Presse reports that a Chinese ratings house has accused the United States of defaulting on its massive debt on Friday, a day after Beijing urged Washington to put its fiscal house in order.

“In our opinion, the United States has already been defaulting,” Guan Jianzhong, president of Dagong Global Credit Rating Co. Ltd., the only Chinese agency that gives sovereign ratings, was quoted by the Global Times saying.

The irony the serial, mass murdering totalitarian Mao Zedong comes to the rescue of the American Taxpayer. Pathetic when the Chinese government states the obvious truth and our own Administration obfuscates the effects of reckless expansion of Government Fiat Dollar Supply.  It is hard to think of the dollar as real money anymore given the way it has been abusively devalued by our own government

Devaluing the currency as Federal Reserve does when it buys Federal Deficit Debt with Fiat Money devalues the real, as opposed to nominal, savings of every saver and diminishes value of real savings that can be invested in productive job creating business that raise the standard of living for all of us. The government (and Democrats) can ignore American savers and investors and buy off corporations with subsidies and special tax breaks but it can’t ignore the Chinese.

Daylin Leach Wants To Trap Kids In Violent Schools

This article is being reprinted with the permission of Bob Guzzardi

By Bob Guzzardi

The Republicans of Lower Merion and Narberth have done an excellent compare and contrast on the critical issue of a parents Freedom to Choose, and the need for poor kids to escape violent and educationally failing schools.

This piece by Party Chairman Lance Rogers takes aim at State Sen. Daylin Leach’s (D-17) attack on Students First, an education advocacy group started by Michelle Rhee, who was chancellor of the Washington D.C. public school system.

And here is the Students First response to Leach’s vicious piece.

Democrats want to trap kids in violent and educationally dysfunctional schools and Republicans want to free them. The Choice is Clear: Coercion or Freedom. Choice or Compulsion.

Abraham Lincoln would be proud. I am proud. And where does Senator Leach send his kids to school? And you? Where do you choose to send your kids to school?

Sen. Leach is, uncharacteristically, silent. Not a bad thing but I would like to know if he is as hypocritical as I think he is. Poor Sen. Daylin, the victim of Rich Right Wingers…oh wait, the proponents aren’t Republicans and aren’t getting rich from bad government as so many of Sen. Daylin’s colleagues.

Democrats cannot be trusted with educational policy. The Democratic agenda enriches the entrenched status quo bureaucracy at the expense of effective education and parental choice. To the Democrat, the state, the collectivist system, and the bureaucratic professionals know what is best for a child, better than a parent. More money being taken from citizens and given to a sclerotic system does not translate to better eduction.
