Pennsylvania Delegate Pledge 7th District

Pennsylvania Delegate Pledge 7th District — Pennsylvania will be sending 71 delegates to Republican Presidential Convention this July. Seventeen will be bound to the state’s top vote-getter. The remaining 54 — three per congressional district — have no restriction as for to whom they may vote. Theoretically, they can vote for anybody or anything.

Springfield GOP Chairman Mike Puppio notes that in the 7th Congressional District the three party-endorsed delegate candidates have pledged to vote for the district’s leading vote-getter on the first ballot.

These candidates are Puppio, Bob Willert and Joan Miller.

The election is April 26.

Kasich Makes Pennsylvania Ballot

Kaisch Makes Pennsylvania Ballot
Almost 900 people came out to see the Governor at Villanova.

Kasich Makes Pennsylvania Ballot — Ohio Gov. John Kasich will be on the Republican presidential primary ballot in Pennsylvania, April 26.

Nathaniel Rome, a Marco Rubio supporter, has dropped his Commonwealth Court filing challenging the validity of 40 percent of the signatures on the petitions Kasich submitted for ballot access.

If Rome continued and the signatures were found invalid, Kasich would have fallen far short of the 2,000 required.

Kasich was in Delaware County, yesterday, March 16, campaigning at Villanova University before a crowd of 650. Another 200 reportedly watched Kasich in another room via video.

Kasich Pennsylvania Plan Has Flaw

Kasich Pennsylvania Plan Has Flaw
Will Kasich play in Pennsylvania?

Kasich Pennsylvania Plan Has Flaw — After Gov. John Kasich’s stirring primary win last night (March 15) in his home state of Ohio, he said “Tomorrow I’m going to Philadelphia and then I’m going all over the country!”

Great plan and all as Pennsylvania has a similar demographic to The Buckeye State except there is a problem. Of the signatures on the petitions that Kasich submitted to get on the ballot here, 802 of them are said to be invalid. This is a big problem as 2,000 signature are needed and Kasich submitted but 2,184.

A Rubio supporter is the one making the challenge. Leaving aside that Rubio has suspended his campaign and that the complainant now might wish he could take it back, we suspect that there is a very good chance that the signatures are bad as per state law.

Pennsylvania has what might be the nation’s most obscenely technical ballot access laws.

Most feel that it should be the spirit of the law rather than the letter that applies when it comes to ballot access. Judges in Pennsylvania, however, most definitely disagree.

In 2015, the Democrat candidates for Delaware County Council were kicked off the ballot due to a minor filing error. The precedent was set in May 2014 when the state Supreme Court overturned a lower court and said that retiree Bob Guzzardi could not be on the Republican gubernatorial primary ballot because the papers were not filed in the proper sequence with the proper kommisars.

The access laws should obviously be changed but this is a serious ethical pickle. It is very wrong to leave Kasich off the ballot, unless it should be that the offense is egregious such as the signatures being forged. It is worse, however, to grant him an exception from laws that had hitherto been strictly enforced.

The Pennsylvania primary is April 26 and Kasich’s lawyers are fighting hard right now to get him on the ballot.

Pat Meehan Hits Choppy Water

Pat Meehan Hits Choppy Water
Pat Meehan, has he opened a door for Casacio?

Pat Meehan Hits Choppy Water — Incumbent Pennsylvania Congressman Pat Meehan expected smooth sailing in his cuddly customized 7th District cocoon but he has hit some chop.

His opponent in the April 26 Republican primary, Montgomery County businessman Stan Casacio, got the endorsement of the Berks County Republican Committee in late February.

Granted the Berks section is but a small part of the district but it is worth noting that its Republican leaders are obviously unsatisfied with the representation they are receiving from Meehan.

More damning, though, is the revelation reported by Philly.com on  March 4 that Philadelphia Democrats are  big backers of Meehan.

So, what’s up with that Pat? If the GOP rank and file learn of this, the cost will be far greater than any benefit this support provides. You might have even opened the door for a Casacio win, something we would not have thought possible two months ago.

Political Class Faces Rebellion

Political Class Faces Rebellion — A big win is expected for Donald Trump this Super Tuesday night and while expectations are not certainties there is a reason for the expectations.

Political Class Faces Rebellion
Billionaire of the People

Most Americans are bat-caca upset with those who have been controlling the political process. This includes the elected officials, appointed officials, hired bureaucrats, non-profit tax-funded administrators and the media that duly regurgitates what it is told by those getting rich off tax dollars.

We have been manipulated by the craven for decades. How? Let’s take a recent case. Most of us want those down on their luck to have access to health care so we agree to a program that will provide this aid which we are told will actually make things better for all.

But then life gets worse  especially for those paying the bill.

And then we learn that those responsible for the problem in the first place are laughing to the bank.

Kind of makes you want to build a guillotine don’t it?

Or consider education. Most Americans think education is pretty important. We are told the “schools are underfunded” so we say “gotta help the kids” so we tighten our belt and let more of our money go to taxes.

And now we learn that the schools aren’t underfunded but the government people are still asking for money anyway so we start wondering where it goes and we start finding answers.

Revolution cometh.

Trump Gets Big Pennsylvania Endorsement

Joe Gale

Trump Gets Big Pennsylvania Endorsement — Newly elected Montgomery County Commissioner Joe Gale, who is one of the state’s top Republicans has come out strong for Donald Trump for president.

He made his endorsement Thursday, Feb. 25, on  Dom Giordano’s WPHT radio show.

“One hundred percent, I am a Trump guy,” he told Giordano. “I tell it like it is, just like Trump. I am a little different though, you know, different hair, smaller wallet. But, people are frustrated…and they are in desperate need for somebody who is a voice for the people.”

After the interview, further explained his support of businessman Donald Trump.

“Just as I did during my election in 2015 and continue to do as public servant, Donald Trump embraces the title of ‘Outsider’ and ‘Common Sense Conservative’,” said Gale.

Gale’s victorious campaign for County Commissioner is considered to be one of the biggest upsets in Pennsylvania’s 2015 election cycle.

First, the 26-year-old took on the Republican Party establishment’s endorsed candidates and won the Republican nomination for Montgomery County’s highest elected office in the May Primary Election.

He noted that opposition from his own political party carried over into the general election but with an independent grassroots campaign, was still able to garner enough support from Republican, Democrat, and Independent voters to earn a position on the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners.

“The last thing we need is another Washington insider. Trump is refreshing. Like me, he is beholden to no one except the people. I am proud to support Donald Trump and look forward to helping him achieve victory in Pennsylvania,” said Gale.

Montgomery County, the state’s third largest county in population, plays a major factor in statewide elections. Even though Democrats outnumber Republicans in Montgomery County, the more than 200,000 registered republicans make  Gale one of the highest ranking Republicans in the Commonwealth.

Trump Tells Truth About Self Funding Campaign

Trump Tells Truth About Self Funding Campaign — SunlightFoundation.com has determined that Donald Trump is basically telling the truth about self-funding his campaign.

Trump Tells Truth About Self Funding CampaignThe open government organization did its usual yeoman-like work in investigating where the candidates are getting their money to pay for their campaigns.

“After the Feb. 20 campaign finance deadline, Trump has now poured in over $17.7 million of his own money – that’s over 70 percent of the $25.5 million his campaign has raised over the entire cycle,” Sunlight says. “Nearly all of that ($17.5 million) came in the form of loans; meanwhile, none of the other candidates have loaned their campaigns so much as a dime.1 On top of that, he’s also supplied over $250,000 worth of in-kind contributions, such as rent and payroll, to his committee.”

Sunlight does point out that about 30 percent of his cash — about $7.5 million — has come as contributions.

Sunlight notes that Trump raised about $13.5 million in the last quarter of 2015 which is about the same as Sen. Marco Rubio and less than Sen. Ted Cruz.

“Trump enjoys minimal PAC support compared to his opponents; while Cruz has a plethora of super PACs backing him, Rubio employs dark money organizations and Hillary Clinton enjoys the support of both, Trump disavows having any relationship with any outside group,” Sunlight says.

Sunlight notes that Dem candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders also has been avoiding money from outside groups except for a nurse’s union super PAC.

Pennsylvanians Explain Presidential Candidacies

Jim Babb of the Vote For No one Campaign

Pennsylvanians Explain Presidential Candidacies –Citizen participation is critical to the health of our republic and Bob Small of Delco Debates does more than his share to encourage it.

He even shows that it is possible to run for president without a multi-million dollar bank account.

On Sunday, Feb. 14, five men from Pennsylvania explained why they were running for the nation’s highest office during a two-hour forum sponsored by Delco Debates at Swarthmore Borough Hall. They were:

  • Jim Babb of Montgomery County from The Vote for No one Campaign
  • Bill French, a Democrat from Snyder County
  • Jim Hedges of Fulton County from the Prohibition Party.
  • Tom Irwin of Mercer County from The American Party
  • John Roy of Lehigh County from the Return to Christ Party

The moderator was Ken Krawchuk, who was the Libertarian Party candidate for Pennsylvania Governor in 1998 and 2002  and the author of Atlas Snubbed, a pastiche parody sequel to Ayn Rand’s Atlas Shrugged.

Kudos again to Bob Small and Delco Debates and here is the the video of what happened:
