Top Donors 2014 As Per SunlightTop Donors 2014— Sunlight Foundation which does yeoman’s work showing how our political campaigns and crusades are funded recently distributed a best-of 2015 which included this dissection from April of where the money went in the 2014 election from the “one percent of the one percent”.  They hold this category contains 31,976 persons who contributed $1.18 billion.

Sunlight noted that this money skewed slightly to the GOP and conservatives — $553 million verses $505 million to Democrats and liberals. The top donors, however, were overwhelmingly D.

Liberal hedge fund manger Tom Steyer  spent $73,884, 467,  which is more than the next 17 Republicans combined. A nice chunk of it went to the campaign for Tom Wolf.

The number 2 donor was former New York Mayor Michale Bloomberg who once upon a time was a Republican but has since moved solely into the camp of country-club progressives. He gave $11,042,800 of which $10,527,600 went to the left.

Sunlight is a critic of Citizens United, the 2010 Supreme Court decision that held that the First Amendment prohibited government interference with political spending by non-profit groups. Much of this money now goes to “super PACs” which are political action committees that don’t make direct contributions to candidates but stick to issues.

Criticism of Citizens United is extremely short-sighted. The Supreme Court got it right. The largest media organization in the world is Philadelphia-based Comcast. It’s “news” outlets are NBC and its spin-offs, which are basically Democrat propaganda machines. The New York Times, despite its fading reputation, is also a partisan mouthpiece. There is no inherent difference between a group of people chipping in to send out mailings and make posters to disseminate information than a New York Times front page story except that the mailings and posters are likely  far more honest and accurate.

Climate Change Accord Celebrated — Today’s (Dec. 14) front page of The Philadelphia Inquirer includes a celebratory article of Saturday’s approval in Paris of an accord to limit emissions of greenhouse gases.

Accepting the accord were representatives from 196 nations including Russia, China and Saudi Arabia. The gases are blamed for the warming of the planet.

The Associated Press article by Seth Borenstein makes an assumption that this accord will be approved by the Senate — it is not legally binding if it doesn’t — much less that it will be followed by the other nations.

By the way, there are no penalties for nations that fail to keep the demands.

The AP article could not be found on the Inquirer‘s website which carries this less biased one.

Considering the 70 degree December the Northeast is having, it is certainly an auspicious time for proponents of world-wide neo-feudalism to promote this foolish excuse for more corruption, and we’d like to note that conservation is a good thing, pollution is a bad thing and the progressing beyond fossil fuel is a desirable thing. However, the United States does not need to bind itself to anything to do so and any money it gives internationally is far more likely to enrich true bastards than accomplish the claimed goals.

If one really believes that global warming is a man-made crisis one should comprehend that there are practical, commonsense steps that would be far more effective in addressing it than any of the garbage that came out of France. The most obvious one would be the replacement of all coal-fired power plants with nuclear ones, followed by the replacement of all gas-fired power plants. Scary? Hey, when certain doom looms you gotta roll the dice.

Less scary things that aren’t on the table would be the saving of hydr0-electric dams, the  promotion of telecommuting and the speedy elimination of traffic bottlenecks. The latter would mean repealing the Davis-Bacon Act which significantly inflates the cost of highway construction in the United States. This repeal is vehemently opposed by the same forces that scream the dire fate that global warming portends from the other side of their mouths. It would also mean ending toll roads which are government created traffic bottle necks, something also opposed by the same political factions that cry global warming.

And the failure to do the simple, commonsense things that would not only effectively address the problem but make life easier, rather than harder, for the little guy is what make us think global warming is a scam despite the 70 degree December.

Cruz Slams GOP LeadersTed Cruz is on a roll.  At the Oct. 28 Republican candidates debate he exposed the establishment mouthpieces masquerading as journalists  and the next day he exposes the GOP leadership as masquerading as people caring about the country.

The senator from Texas coldly and calmly dissected the budget deal as cronyism that benefits all parties in power regardless of the letter after their name while crushing the working people who have to pay for it and especially their children.

“And it is difficult to find a better illustration of the Washington Cartel than the charade we are engaged in this evening,” Crus said. “This deal that we are here to vote on is both shockingly bad on the merits, and it is also a manifestation of the bipartisan corruption that suffuses Washington, D.C.”

He noted the deal adds $85 billion in spending increases.  He pointed out that the previous budget deal — that he had also opposed added just $63 billion over two years and was made when the Democrats were the majority party in the Senate unlike now.

“Republican majorities have just given President Obama is a diamond-encrusted, glow-in-the-dark AmEx card,” Cruz said. “And it has a special feature. The president gets to spend it now, and they don’t even send him the bill. They send the bill to your kids . . .

“This represents the Cartel in all of its glory because this is the combined work product of Rep. John Boehner (R) and Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D) and Mitch McConnell (R) and Harry Reid (D). The entire time Republican leaders have been promising, ‘We’re going to do something on the budget. We’re going to rein in the president,’ they have been in the back room negotiating to fund every single thing Obama did.”

And that my Republican friends is why the Republican Party leadership is in trouble. We cut you slack because we feel you are afraid of the press when you want stand up for common fiscal sense. We are now starting to get this real concern in the pit of our stomachs that it is because you don’t want to.

Father Frank Pavone of Priests for Life composed a prayer for the elimination of the abortion industry and the conversion of those whose hearts are hardened to support it.

Maria Goldstein thought it would be nice to distribute it at her Catholic parish’s Sunday mass and ordered 500 copies of it at the Office Depot in Schaumburg, Ill.

Office Depot refused do it. It violated corporate policy it claimed. The prayer advocated religious discrimination it claimed. Yes, they actually said that without even comprehending the irony.

And the corporate headquarter people are defending the decision so we can’t blame some misguided store manager.

Pope Francis gets criticized by conservatives for the things he has said about American corporations and that is quite unfair as he is dead right.

Our big businesses are more often than not run by selfish people with distinctly anti-Christian mindsets.

The strident advocacy for gay marriage and the ensuing corporate celebration of the Supreme Court’s gay marriage decision is mind-boggling from the economic standpoint.  It’s not, though, if those that run things think their gravy train will last forever and don’t want to be bound by old-fashioned morality regarding how to treat spouses, employees and others whom they think can’t retaliate.

But gravy trains don’t run forever and consequences are never ultimately escaped.

Ms. Goldstein is preparing legal action against Office Depot. It really doesn’t matter if she is successful in forcing them to do the right thing via this route.

Office Depot will not escape the consequences of its bigotry. The knowledge of what they did will quietly and slowly become known to the tens of millions of Americans who feel the very profitable “non-profit” abortion business is vile and tens of millions of Americans will put Office Depot last on the list when seeking the services it provides. This decision-making change won’t be announced or declared or even be a full-fledged boycott. They will see something they want in an Office Depot ad and they will look for it online or at Staples or at Walmart first.

Yes, shareholders, it will affect the bottom line.

Here are 37 American businesses that wildly celebrated Friday’s (June 26) nonsensical  5-4 ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court forbidding states to restrict a marriage to one man and one woman.

Leave aside that the ruling isn’t going to help anyone’s bottom line. Leave aside that it further endangers our already endangered Social Security program. Leave aside it complicates corporate human resources divisions and increases the cost of benefits programs.

It was hip and gives the rich, spoiled, never-bloodied ones who run corporate America to  shout “Let us break their chains and throw off their shackles.”

The recognition that homosexuality is a sin is a rather small part of the Bible and, despite what some Democrats claim, God does not hate gays. Rejecting that one part, though, gives license to reject the whole thing.

Taking care of the poor and loving your neighbor for examples.

Victor David Hanson, a week ago, published a heartbreaking column on PJMedia.com describing how the water crisis and environmental fanaticism are causing people to literally abandon their homes in the working class interior of California while the  gated-community hipsters in Silicon Valley and Hollywood enjoy rich lawns and expansive carbon footprints.

The people who run America’s institutions whether business, academic or political truly don’t care about gays as individuals unless that particular gay can be of some benefit to them, and they don’t care about non-gays either.

So kudos Pope Francis for having the insight to spell it out.

And what is the Pope’s position on gay marriage? It’s pretty clear.

The below off the internet is courtesy of Judy McGrane.  Various “fact checkers” have taken issue with this pointing out that Mrs. Clinton will not receive her full Senate salary,  about $160,000, but  just 13.6 percent of it, and that if she should die her husband would only be entitled to half of that. Further, while they are entitled to $1,100 monthly rent payments — not $10,000 — for their Secret Service contingent, they have said that they are waiving the fee.

And it should be noted the $11 million mansion referred to was here is in Bedford Hills, which they never ended up buying.

They remain in their old $1.7 million  home  Chappaqua.

But despite the  inaccuracies we just can’t bring ourselves to feel the Clinton’s pain, lying hypocritical phonies that they are, especially since they sold the rest of us out to be able to afford that $11 million mansion.

Hillary Rodham Clinton, as a New York State Senator now comes under this fancy “congressional retirement staffing plan” which means that if she never gets re-elected, she STILL receives her Congressional salary until she dies.

If Bill out-lives her, he then inherits HER salary until he dies. He is already getting his Presidential salary ($20,000 a month) until he dies.  If Hillary out-lives Bill, she also gets HIS salary until she dies!  Guess who pays for that?  WE DO!

 
Clinton’s 20 Acre – $11 million mansion is common knowledge.  For her to establish NY residency, they purchased this mansion in upscale Chappaqua, New York.  Makes sense.  They are entitled to Secret Service protection for life.  Still makes sense.

Here is where it becomes interesting.  Their mortgage payments are around $10,000/month. But an extra residence had to be built by the government on the acreage to house the Secret Service Agents. Any improvement to the property is owned by the property owners… the Clinton’s. So… the Clinton’s charge the federal government $10,000 monthly rent for the use of the extra residence to house the Secret Service staff which is just about equal to their mortgage payment. He is the ONLY ex-president to use this loophole, thus earning the name ‘Slick Willie’.

This means that we, the taxpayers, pay the Clinton’s, salary, mortgage, transportation, safety and security as well as the salaries for their 12 man staff, and it is all perfectly legal.
 
AND DON’T FORGET HIS GOVERNOR’S PENSION AND HER SECRETARY OF STATE PENSION…

None Dare Call Clinton Cash What? — Since 2001, Bill and Hillary Clinton have earned at least $136.5 million with the money spiking for Bill’s speaking fees after Hillary became Obama’s Secretary of State.

The money came from foreign governments and business interests. This includes $2.35 million from Uranium One of which the state-owned Russian atomic agency, Rosatom now owns in its entirety.

Uranium One’s mines account for 20 percent of the uranium mined in the U.S.

The sale of Uranium One to the Russians was something that raised concerns among many. It went, through, anyway, apparently at Mrs. Clinton’s behest.

Revelations such as this are detailed in the book Clinton Cash by Peter Schweizer scheduled to hit the shelves May 5 but is already being discussed by media outlets that have obtained advanced copies.

The Clintons character didn’t magically change when Bill left office. One wonders how much safer and how much freer the world would have been if he had never entered.

Rush Limbaugh, last week, had a fascinating observation regarding the social pressure techniques mastered by the progressives that have many of us wondering why so often nonsensical ideas become policy and law at the expense of our freedom and lifestyles. Ignore Small Loud Progressives

“There is on Twitter this thing called StopRush, and it’s people attacking me and this program much the way Indiana is being attacked today, and whatever conservative institution was attacked yesterday,” he said. ” . . .It’s 10 people. We researched it. We know who the people are. We know where they live. Virtually 85 percent of all the so-called outrage e-mails and tweets are generated by 10 people, made to look as though they are thousands and thousands and thousands. It’s all fake. It’s all phony.”

But it gets worse.

“Let’s say there’s a mom-and-pop operation that wants to advertise on our station in Illinois, Chicago, WLS, and that local sponsor’s commercial is heard, and the next thing that proprietor knows, he’s got thousands and thousands of tweets threatening him, telling him defamatory things about me, lies and things totally made up about things I’ve supposedly said on the radio,” Rush noted.. “And the guy gets scared. We found out that not only are only 10 people behind this, but in the vast, I mean vast majority of cases, 90 percent of the tweets are coming from out of state.”

The people who do these things are wannabee tyrants. They won’t be swayed by truth or reasoned debated because they accept neither truth or reason. They don’t value decency, and compassion as we do. They are bullies. When we learn to stand up to them we will be much happier, freer, richer and stronger.

The NCAA said it was “especially concerned”

The NBA also criticized it.

So what does this law do? It establishes a legal test for judges to use when deciding whether or not a government act goes too far in burdening someone’s exercise of religion.

Here is the text of the law which has generally been omitted from the media outrage.

The law is motivated by instances were religious business-owners were sued under anti-discrimination laws for being unwilling to espouse views praising homosexuality in violation of the tenets of their faith.

For those objecting to this law ask yourself if you would condemn a black baker for refusing to bake a cake for a KKK chapter that celebrated lynching. How about a gay caterer refusing to hang a sign saying “God hates gay” at a function for the Westboro Baptist Church?

Unfair discrimination is refusing to sell the kind of jelly doughnut just sold to the black guy to the gay guy next in line. It’s not refusing to make a special rainbow jelly doughnut for the gay guy.

For what it’s worth, Pennsylvania is among the 19 other states that have such a law. Kudos for us.
