Tagg Romney In Springfield

Tagg Romney In Springfield
Tagg Romney with a Springfield resident in Springfield, Pa., this morning at the GOP Delaware County Victory Center, 1001 Baltimore Pike, 19064.
The appearance of the possible first son this late in the campaign showed that the Republicans see a good chance to take Pennsylvania for the first time since 1988 in a presidential race.
Tagg, by the way, is a heck of a nice guy. The only complaint about his visit might be that he actually showed up on time. Many hoping to see him missed him as they expected the usual campaign whimsy of a start time being set significantly before the arrival of the person they hope to see.
Mitt, the man himself, will be appearing tomorrow evening at Shady Brook Farm in Yardley.

Kudos To Brookside Bagels

Congrats to Mike Santolup of Brookside Bagels on Brookside Road in Springfield. He has gotten some nice PR for supplying the past year the cast of After Earth — the movie by M. Night Shyamalan and starring Will Smith that just wrapped up filming at Sun Center Studios in Aston — with his bagels, muffins and danish.

Santolup is a great guy with great food and is always willing to help out a charity.
Hope the movie is a hit too.

The place was packed with a racially mixed crowd of moms, store clerks and contractors. All tables were filled and the lunch line went from the counter to the entrance. The national event was declared after the popular, high-quality chain came under fire from activists and Democrat politicians because its Chief Operating Officer Dan Cathy, who is the son of  founder S. Many said they were specifically patronizing the store that day to show solidarity with Cathy. One suspects that if it is the first time they’ve been there they will be back. The regulars expressed bemused tolerance of the extra-long lines adding their support.

Springfield Teachers Pact Vote Looms

Regina Scheerer of the Delaware County Patriots reports that the Springfield (Pa.) School Board is posed to vote on five-year teacher  contract, June 21.

And a rather sane pact it appears to be.
According to the District’s website, salaries will be frozen the first year; raised 1.62 percent the second year albeit with a $500 off-scale payment; raised 1.8 percent the third year; and 2 percent in years four and five.

The unions medical insurance contribution will be kept at 10 percent the first year, raised to 12 percent for years two through four; and raised to 13 percent in year five.

The meeting starts 7 p.m. at the McLaughlin Center at the high school on Leamy Avenue, and may be watched on Comcast Channel 11 or FIOS Channel 29.
Kudos to the Springfield School Board and the Springfield Education Association for sanity.
