Kasich Delaware County Visit

Kasich Delaware County VisitKasich Delaware County Visit — Ohio Gov. John Kasich, who has absolutely no chance of becoming the Republican nominee via the primary process, will be bringing his presidential campaign to Delaware County, Thursday, April 21 at the Penn State Brandywine Campus Commons Building, 25 Yearsley Mill Road, Media (Middletown Township) Pa., 19o63.

Doors open at 1:30 p.m., and the program runs 2:30 -4.

Sign up early here as they will likely be turning people away due to the massive crowd.

Just kidding.

Actually, we suspect they will manage to fill the venue due to the Governor’s support among party regulars and those with government jobs but  can you seriously imagine Donald Trump picking the Brandywine Campus Commons Building as a site for an event?

Pennsylvania Delegate Pledge 7th District

Pennsylvania Delegate Pledge 7th District — Pennsylvania will be sending 71 delegates to Republican Presidential Convention this July. Seventeen will be bound to the state’s top vote-getter. The remaining 54 — three per congressional district — have no restriction as for to whom they may vote. Theoretically, they can vote for anybody or anything.

Springfield GOP Chairman Mike Puppio notes that in the 7th Congressional District the three party-endorsed delegate candidates have pledged to vote for the district’s leading vote-getter on the first ballot.

These candidates are Puppio, Bob Willert and Joan Miller.

The election is April 26.

Delco News Network Layoffs

Delco News Network LayoffsDelco News Network Layoffs — Most of the editorial staff at Delco News Network was laid off yesterday, Jan. 8. The bloodletting consisted of managing editor David Bjorkgren, Springfield Press editor Amy Winnemore, sports editor Joe Arcidiacono, and Arts and Life editor Margie Royal.

The Delco News Network is the website for Garnet Valley Press, founded by my parents and myself, County Press, Springfield Press, News of Delaware County and Town Talk, all weekly newspapers that once enjoyed lively competition but have long since been part of a single holding.

I’ve long known Dave and Margie. They are great people and great journalists.

Dave’s farewell column can be found here.
