Packed House For Delco Patriots

Some observations about tonight’s meeting of the Delaware County Patriots held at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Newtown Square:

— A gas station was selling regular at $3.99 per gallon.
–Every table was filled so extra chairs were set up and the ages of those filling them ran from teen to senior citizen.
Don’t believe the propaganda, which, by the way, was part of the message of the first speaker, Richard A. Brake, Ph.d, a Constitutional scholar, who also explained the legal non-reasoning behind the Supreme Court’s Obamacare decision. Since one could be fined for not buying health insurance it was not a mandate but a tax, he said. As scary as a court that ignores the intent of the protections provided by our Constitution is, it transcends to the Orwellian level when they ignore the meanings of words in the dictionary.
Brake was followed by Chuck Piola, a one-time middle school history teacher who became an ace salesman and who is now an author and motivational speaker. His book is Going in Cold. His topic was  tips regarding door-to-door and telephone campaigning.
Martin Gillespie, director of American Majority Action-Pa, was the main speaker. Gillespie said that Pennsylvania is a basically conservative state with even most Democrats thinking that the government has gotten too big. He pointed out that five congressional seats flipped to the GOP in 2010. He stressed the importance to the volunteers, though, of getting the message out to their neighbors and described the ways in which his organization could help.
One interesting thing he said came in response to a question about reaching Jewish voters who insist on voting Democrat regardless of the degree the party acts against their interests. He described his own Philadelphia Irish Catholic family and said that it takes about three generations to escape the Democrat disease.
He noted that Democrat establishment has long acted against the interest of his own family.
Gillespie pointed out that he is subject to Catholic guilt and that social justice as described in Matthew 25 is ingrained in his soul. He said, however, that this kind of “social justice” has nothing to do with government, and that coercive government is its antithesis.
He said if Obamacare remains in effect 600 Catholic hospitals will close and Catholic social services will end in places like Chicago as they will not be able to afford the fines imposed for failing to provide abortion services.
The Patriots are promoting an  American Majority Action event that will be 7:30 p.m., at the Unionville Elementary School Auditorium, 1775 West Doe Run Road, Kennett Square, Pa. 19348, which will feature historian David A. Barton, and Alveda King, who is the niece of Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.
Registration is required. Call Joanne Lee at 610-572-3442.
Mary Ellen Jones, tonight, did her usual excellent job as master of ceremonies.

  1. If the enthusiasm displayed by the overflow tea partiers is even slightly contagious and spreads from sea to shining sea, We will be welcoming a new president in January. I can’t wait!
