He Will Separate Them

And he will separate them one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. (Matt 25:32)

So then people on earth are intermingled, and not only intermingled in that the righteous live side by side with the wicked but they are also indistinguishable.

Between the righteous and the wicked there is no apparent difference. Even as in wintertime you cannot tell the healthy trees apart from the withered tress but in beautiful springtime you can tell the difference, so too each person according to his faith and his works will be exposed.

The wicked will not have any leaves or show any fruit, but the righteous will be clothed with the leaves of eternal life and adorned with the fruit of glory. In this way they will be separated by the heavenly shepherd and Lord.

The earthly shepherd separates animals by their type of body, whereas Christ separates people by their type of soul. The sheep signify righteous people by reason of their gentleness, because they harm no one, and by reason of their patience, because when they are harmed by others they bear it without resistance.

He refers to sinners as goats, however, because these vices characterize goats: capriciousness toward other animals, pride and belligerence.

From a Homily, Incomplete Work on Matthew

And he will separate them one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.

‘Bipartisan’ Senate Bill Would Keep Border Open

‘Bipartisan’ Senate Bill Would Keep Border Open

By Joe Guzzardi

Oklahoma Senator James Langford has not officially announced his long-term political goals. But deep-red Oklahoma’s senior senator has done a superb job of shooting himself in the foot by joining up with three open borders advocates in what they laughingly refer to as a bipartisan border agreement. Under Senate Majority leader Chuck Schumer’s watchful eyes, Langford’s negotiating colleagues are Arizona Senator Kristen Sinema, a faux Independent who caucuses with Democrats, and blue Connecticut’s Chris Murphy. Sinema and Murphy have consistently voted against border and interior enforcement while favoring amnesty enticements. Neither Sinema nor Murphy, however, have served close to Schumer’s three decades-plus in Congress during which time he has unbendingly fought for higher immigration levels and less enforcement. Up against Schumer and company, Langford is out of his element.

Even the most cursory review of the Senate’s proposed deal shows that the details would not only keep the border open but also encourage more illegal immigration. Leaked details include a disastrous provision that once border crossings reached a seven-day 5,000 rolling daily average, the Department of Homeland Security would have the authority to shut down migration. Daily encounters between 4,000 and 5,000 would allow for discretionary expulsions, and any single day where there were over 8,000 encounters, expulsions would be mandatory even if the 7-day average were lower. Those expulsions would also be exempt from judicial review. Not only would such levels be inconsistent with border security, but President Biden has complete authority to shut the border down tight without more congressional legislation. The legislation would also, say advocates close to the talks, tighten asylum standards, speed up the hearing process, double deportation flights, and expedite work permits. Only expedited work permits are likely to become a reality, a harmful feature that expands the labor force with unskilled workers and takes away jobs from U.S. workers.

Andrew Arthur, a Center for Immigration Studies Resident Fellow in Law and Policy, and a former immigration judge, wrote in his New York Post op-ed that Section 212(f) of the Immigration and Nationality Act gives the president authority to “suspend the entry of all aliens or any class of aliens.” Moreover, in 2018, the Supreme Court rejected immigration advocates’ challenges to travel restrictions that President Donald Trump implemented on certain nationals of terrorist hotspots and countries hostile to the United States and wrote that Section 212(f) “exudes deference to the President in every clause.” House Speaker Mike Johnson, reflecting most Americans’ sentiments and promising that if the Senate bill should ever reach the House it would be DOA, said that the “goal should be zero illegal crossings a day, not 5,000.” Unlike the Senate trio, Johnson knows that in the Iowa and New Hampshire primaries, immigration ranked with the economy as the two issues that most troubled voters.

Langford,  an ordained Southern Baptist minister, has pushed back against criticism and claims that election year politics and not the bill’s details hamper the Senate process. Voters are increasingly aware that Biden’s lack of political will to enforce existing laws is the main reason the border remains open. Deep skepticism with the White House’s immigration agenda has intensified, and a bad Senate bill will not soothe voters’ immigration anxiety.

Langford got a sample of how getting cozy with Schumer could derail his career. The Oklahoma Republican Party (OKGOP) voted to censure Lankford for his close work with Democrats on border legislation. However, since not all OKGOP members were present, the censure was not official. Still, the vote could be a signal of trouble ahead for Langford.

History’s lesson: Florida Senator Marco Rubio got a rude awakening to the long-term consequences of a Schumer connection. In 2013, only his second full year in office, Rubio was one of four GOP Senators who teamed up with four Democrats including Schumer to pass the disastrous immigration “Gang of Eight” bill, never taken up by the House. Rubio’s betrayal shocked Florida’s Republicans. In 2015, Rubio was one of 17 GOP announced presidential candidates. When the crucial Florida primary time rolled around in March 2016, Rubio needed a win over Donald Trump to remain viable. But Florida’s voters didn’t forget Rubio’s duplicity and overwhelmingly cast their ballots for Trump, 46% to 27%. Once considered a frontrunner, Rubio’s presidential aspirations ended that night.

Langford’s next re-election cycle, should he choose to run, is 2028. Myriad border outcomes could occur in the next six years. But Oklahoma Republicans are unlikely to forget, much less forgive, Langford’s eagerness to join the Democrats to keep the border open and subvert U.S. sovereignty.

Chesco Using Technicality In Attempt To Derail Election Investigation

Chesco Using Technicality In Attempt To Derail Election Investigation — Here is the latest regarding the attempt to get Chester County, Pa. Republican Recorder of Deeds candidate Brian D. Yanoviak — and others — access to digital copies of various election records including ballots, unredacted outer envelopes for mail-in ballots, unredacted poll books and the cast vote record for the central tabulator from the November 2023 election.

After Common Pleas Judge Anthony Vewrey denied the request, he was told there were serious errors of fact in his decision including that he cited arguments they did not make; invoked standards that were not applicable; and incorrectly cited state law. The appellants protested and Vewrey gave them 21 days from Dec. 18 to clarify their objections.

The appellants did so. The complaints were not addressed and so they appealed to Commonwealth Court.

The appellees — which are Chester County and the Chester County Board of Elections — are claiming the appellants failed to meet Vewrey’s deadline.

Commonwealth Court has asked for an explanation.

The appellants point out that Chester County cut off access to the electronic filing system so they were forced to use the United States Postal Services overnight priority mail on Jan. 7 which was 20 days after Vewrey’s order. They also emailed the appellees the documents the day of the deadline along with the postal receipts.

The documents mailed “overnight” were not picked up until Jan. 11.

Why is the county fighting this? Election integrity is an ever growing concern and every battle to obstruct transparency makes it grow faster. The county could have resolved this in November with far less money and effort.

Idiot 1 Percent Sets Agenda For America

Idiot 1 Percent Sets Agenda For America — Pollster Scott Rasmussen noticed after several months of surveys that a few out of every thousand espoused views far more radical than everyone else. In the aggregate, they were about 1 percent of responses.

And these respondents were invariably those who lived in zip codes of over 10,000 persons, had incomes greater than $150,000 and had graduate degrees.

Hey Penn Delco — or any school district — who does that sound like? His title starts with an S.

Rasmussen specifically surveyed those with these characteristics. He found they were 86 percent white with two-thirds being between 35 and 54. Forty-seven percent of them said Americans had too much freedom, with that rising to 69 percent of those most political.

That same percent of the most political also said it was right to cheat to win a close election. Compare this to 93 percent of Americans who say it’s always wrong.

Searing proof of the worthlessness of a grad degree is that 69 percent had a favorable view of Congress with 71 percent having one of journalists.

By the way:

  • 77 percent of this 1 percent want to impose strict restrictions and rationing on the private use of gas, meat, and electricity.
  • 72 percent of them favor banning gas powered vehicles.
  • 69 percent of them favor banning gas stoves.
  • 58 percent of them favor of banning sport utility vehicles.
  • 55 percent of them favor banning non-essential air travel.
  • 53 percent of them favor banning private air conditioning.

These are opposed by between 63 percent to 83 percent of most Americans.

Rasmussen said that the most radical were educated at Harvard, Yale, University of Pennsylvania, Northwestern, John’s Hopkins, Columbia, Stanford, Berkeley, Princeton, Cornell, MIT, and the University of Chicago.

These people are the enemy. They are cruel, heartless and indifferent to the suffering of others. Now, if they are inconvenienced or asked to sacrifice even in the slightest, you’ll hear it. But others? Not so much. Ask the Uyghurs.

They are lovers of money and comfort. Greed is their prime directive. They mouth altruism and concern but have carbon footprints most of us can only dream about.

This crowd has far greater influence in society that the average of American.

We must make it a priority to change this.

By the way, most of them are no where near as smart at they think they are so please make it a point that you don’t reinforce this for them.

GOP Spent More On Flowers Than Voter Files

GOP Spent More On Flowers Than Voter FilesJennifer Van Laar revealed on RedState.com that the Democrat National Committee spent $156,900, 327.28 between Oct. 20, 2022 and Nov. 30, 2023 while the Republican National Committee spent 128,735,489.96.

Fine.

It’s not that big a difference.

Maybe the RNC spent smarter.

Well, no. That’s where it’s not so fine.

The Rs spent $1.078 million on management consulting vs $114,000 to the Ds; $116,341.27 on media booking consultants compared to nothing for the Ds; $263,127.25 on limos compared to $7k for the Ds; and, wait for it, $70,328 for floral arrangements compared to $795 for the Ds.

The Ds, on the other hand, spent $235,865.88 on voter file maintenance compared to $39,233.5 for the Rs; and $1,676,923.29 for “get out the vote” texting compared to $86,019 for the Rs.

They also gave $23,835,437 to state parties compared to $13,800,200 for the Rs.

Yes, the Republicans spent more on floral arrangements than on voter file maintenace.

Ronna McDaniel has got to go. If she won’t resign as national GOP chairwoman, she should be coerced to quit. They can give her some flowers and a ride in a limo on the way out.

Saint Matrona And Stalin

Saint Matrona And Stalin

By Bob Small

Joseph Stalin, known as Joseph Vissarrionovich Stalin born as Joseb Besarionis Dze Jughashvili, has a mixed evaluation from a historical perspective.  Many of his actions were monstrous but the Allies might have lost World War 2, if he hadn’t had Russia switch sides.  In 2024, he’s still a source of controversy in his native Georgia.

There is an icon showing Stalin being blessed by Saint Matrona of Moscow the Holy Trinity (Saemba) Cathedral.

A youthful Stalin attended the Russian Orthodox Theological Seminary in Tiflis, Georgia with the intent of becoming a priest.

Activist, Nata Peradze threw blue paint on the icon on Jan. 9.

This action generated a reaction in which members of the far-right “Alt Info” party to surround Ms. Peradze’s house but luckily local Police quickly arrived.

Ms. Peradze is not alone in her opinion regarding the icon. Gocha Barnov, a theologian, told TV channel Mtavari Arkhi that the icon’s presence in the cathedral was ‘blasphemous’ and that it should be removed immediately.    Davit Tarkan-Mouravi, the leader of the far-right, Alliance of Patriots of Georgia announced that he had donated the icon to the Church.

Stalin became an avowed atheist and that the meeting memorialized in the Icon — which is mean to honor Saint Matrona — is apocryphal at best.

However, let truth not stand in the way of a good story.

Saint Matrona was a contemporary of the dictator, though, being born a few years after and dying one year before in 1952. Like Stalin, she lived in Moscow but as a Christian and many miracles are attributed her.

One reason that Ms. Peradze threw the paint on the icon  is her family’s history which she blames on Stalin.

“It’s my pain,” Ms. Peradze told Al Jazeera. “We have no [discussions] about what happened and no memorials for the people who went through hell because of this guy. There were priests on my father’s side and on my mother’s there were dissidents. Some were deported to Siberia and some were lost and we never knew what happened to them.”

There has been a resurgence in Stalin’s popularity in Georgia, with at least 11 new statues of him appearing since the governing Georgian Dream party came to power in 2012.

Perhaps we should remember Stalin as a complicated individual who…how should we finish this sentence?
