Charlie Hedbo Attack Shows Why 1st Amendment Needs 2nd

Gunmen shouting “Allahu akbar” attacked  the French satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo killing at least 12 — including two police officers — and wounding four.

The Islamic attackers used a Kalashnikov  — that’s a real assault rife — and a rocket launcher.

So much for gun control.

The attack occurred  11:30 this morning, Jan. 7, Central European Time which is about five hours ago.

Charlie Hebdo  drew the ire of Islam when it re-printed  in 2006 these Jyllands-Posten cartoon depictions of Mohammed.

Charlie Hedbo Attack Shows Why First Amendment Needs Second

It doubled down in September 2012 when it published cartoons of a naked Mohammed in response to protests over the low-budget film “Innocence of Muslims”.

Last week, it featured French author Michel Houellebecq whose latest book “Submission” imagines a France in the near future ruled by an Islamic government.

Can such an attack happen here, say at Comedy Central?

Well, our hipsters — unlike, we love the irony, the French — aren’t known for their courage.  The objects of their mocking are specifically picked for objecting to violence hence their avoidance of all things Islamic

However, bullies sense weakness and it doesn’t take much of an excuse for them to resort to inflicting pain so cravenness in the end provides no protection.

Our suggestions are firstly to stop mocking things held sacred. The Jyllands-Posten cartoons were not mocking Islam. They were standing up to bullies and standing up for a value system. Mocking would be making an image of Mohammed out of dung or dropping one in a jar of urine. Doing such does not make one a hero but merely  a jerk. One can tell the truth or dispute another without resorting to mocking.

Secondly, understand that there are those who feel they are ordained to rule and have no compunction about forcing you to do their bidding. They must be fought. This means the First Amendment needs the Second. A rocket launcher is not a great means of self defense but if some of the staff at Charlie Hebdo were packing pistols, the death toll would be a lot less and the perpetrators would not be now likely planning their next attack.

And by now it should be apparent that government gun control does not work.

Thirdly, for my Muslim readers “Allahu akbar” means God is greatest. Yes, God is greatest. He doesn’t need some  loser wannabe defending Him.

Fannie Mae Kindled Tea Party

The Tea Party movement has been accused of being run by racists and bigots and sexists and homophobes. Its members have been accused of being anti-science who don’t care if the world is burning to the ground.

The charges are false. In fact, when one looks at those making them  and then follows the money, well, it is more often than not welcome to the Tea Party.

The spark for the movement was obviously Obamacare, the disaster that was predicted and is now coming to pass.

But there was plenty of kindling and maybe the biggest pile of it was the housing bust sparked by the misue of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

Fannie Mae is the Federal National Mortgage Association which is a financial services corporation created by the U.S. Congress in 1938 to expand the secondary mortgage market by securitizing mortgages. The nickname comes from its acronym (FNMA)

Freddie Mac is Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation (FHLMC) It is also a “government-sponsored enterprise” and was created in 1970. Freddie Mac  buys mortgages on the secondary market, pools them, and sells them as a mortgage-backed security to investors on the open market.

In 1992, the Housing and Community Development Act was passed and this mandated Fannie Mae to provide mortgages to low-income people who would otherwise be considered bad credit risks, which were then pooled by Freddie Mac.

Under the Clinton administration, these risky loans boomed. Now, Fannie  and Freddie while “government sponsored” are publicly traded, although both are now over the counter as they were delisted by the New York Stock Exchange in 2010.  Their officers are not government employees.

The expanded loans made it look like they were just doing great when it was doing anything but.

Harold Raines was the CEO of Fannie Mae. He made about $90 million in salary and bonuses. J. Timothy Howard was CFO and Leanne G. Spencer was controller. They also made money.

In December 2006,  U.S. regulators  filed suit against them seeking to recoup $115 million in bonus payments along with $100 million in penalties. In 2012, the suit was dropped. They got away with it.

Pretty good heist, right?

The bad loans at Fannie  and Freddie cost the U.S. taxpayers between  $224 and $360 billion in bailouts.

Bernie Madoff was a piker to these guys and he’s going to die in prison.

And that is just one more reason why there is a Tea Party and people are angry and suspicious of those running government.

Dark Money Excuse For Power Grab

Jon Cassidy at Watchdog.org has an article explaining how state laws seeking to expose the rich donors of political causes are being used to stifle local activism.

He cites as an example  a community group in Colorado that was sued under such a “dark money” law for opposing the annexation of a neighborhood by a larger community.

The community group consisted of about a half-dozen neighbors and spent about $1,000 for yard signs and literature.

Karen Sampson, the woman who organized the group, fought the suit and won with a federal court declaring the law unconstitutional. It took four years, though, and the Democrat-controlled Colorado legislature has failed to bring the law into line with the court ruling.

“I’m ashamed to say, that if I’d known we would be sued, and now knowing how absurd Colorado’s campaign finance laws are, I would think twice about getting involved in an issue ballot,” Ms. Sampson said.

The Colorado law requires any two people who spent $200, or 30 percent of their budget, on an issue appearing on a ballot had to register as a political committee and comply with the complex web of regulations meant for political pros, Cassidy says.

It’s just one more thing to keep your eye and to fight if you love freedom.

Kim Jong-un Burned Alive Ends The Interview

Kim Jong-un Burned Alive Ends The Interview

Here is the ending to The Interview, the movie that Sony Pictures has pulled from distribution due to threats from North Korea and having had its cyber-stored secrets revealed in a hack attack.

The man being burned alive is North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un, which is something he’s been known to do to his political opponents.

The movie is allegedly a comedy by Seth Rogen who is sort of a modern day Three Stooges minus two stooges. Note we didn’t say Charlie Chaplin. We said Three Stooges minus two stooges. There are no tender moments of pathos in a Seth Rogen film.

The movie gives Little Kim the same treatment the Stooges (and Chaplin for that matter) gave Adolph Hitler except in an edgier way.

Anyway, Kim felt the film was a threat to his power so he took action against the Japanese-owned, Hollywood-based studio thereby guaranteeing a massive hit when the movie is inevitably released — you know movies can be released online now, not just in theaters, right Kim? This means that just about everyone in the world will see his ugly face get its just deserts.

And if Kim really has managed to dig up some uber juicy blackmail stuff on the Sony honchos to keep them continuing to make copyright complaints against the forces of samizdat, well, having the film distributed by  bootleg and become super hip and cool will only make things worse for the dictator.

Pa Legislative Salary Automatically Rises To $85,356

The automatic pay raise Pennsylvania legislators have been getting since 1995 takes their salaries to $85,356 for 2015.

All without a vote.

This does not count health care benefits, retirement packages — oh so sweet retirement packages — nor other perks like per diems.

This is an increase of $1,300 from last year.

The presiding officers will be getting $2,100 raises bringing their salaries to $133,000.

One word describes this: corruption. The people we elect to look out for us are looking out for themselves.

Elizabeth Lauten And Media Priorities

Elizabeth Lauten, a Republican staffer, watched the White House’s annual Thanksgiving turkey pardoning and was less than enthralled with the behavior of Obama’s daughters.

So she posted this on Facebook:

“Dear Sasha and Malia, I get you’re both in those awful teen years, but you’re a part of the First Family, try showing a little class. . . . Rise to the occasion. Act like being in the White House matters to you. Dress like you deserve respect, not a spot at a bar.”

Oh, did the earth quake.

Ms. Lauten was forced to quit her job and her career was ruined.

The establishment media types are still chattering about it to the point where they couldn’t find much room to report on the indictment of Obama confidant Terry Beam for sexual assault of a minor or the conviction of Democrat player Donny Ray Williams for drugging girls and rapping them.

Liberals Destroy Homeless Town

More hypocrisy from Silicon Valley

Uber-hip and rich San Jose, Ca., just ripped down the  nation’s largest homeless community –a 68-acre shantytown called “The Jungle.”

It was built along a stream called Coyote Creek and featured lean-tos, underground bunkers and a tree house.

The city was pushed to act by the rotting trash that piled up not to mention the rats and human waste.

And the action appears appropriate and necessary.

But why did they allow it to build up in the first place? And could you image the scorn the residents of San Jose would heap on a Texas or Pennsylvania community compelled to act in the same way?

Apartments now average $2,633 per month in the San Jose region up from $1,761 two years earlier. The median home price is nearly $700,000

The area has about 7,600 homeless with about 75 percent sleeping outside on sidewalks, in parks and under freeway embankments even before their shantytown was destroyed. It’s a greater percentage than any other U.S. metropolitan area.

In a fit of liberal guilt, San Jose spent $4 million to get housing for 144 of them. Nice job. Now just 7,456 to go.

Google Democrat Tool

The Democrats have named uber-billionaire plutocrat Eric Scmidt to its election post-mortem group, Bloomberg.com has revealed.

It’s just something for those of you not inclined to automatically push the D button to think about the next time you use a Google product.

Do you really want the enemy to track your every move?

During the midterm election cycle, Schmidt donated $60,000 to Democratic congressional candidates and chipped in $250,000 to Senate Majority PAC.

We guess the joke is on the OWS types who voted for Obama et al to stick it Wall Street and the “crony capitalists”.

We suggest that for searches one use DuckDuckGo. Their politics may not be the same as ours but truthfully we don’t know as they don’t make an issue of it. Regardless, they don’t track you.

Further, they are based in the neighborhood, Paoli, so that’s a bonus.

For web browsing, avoid Chrome. We use Firefox. If you can’t overlook their recent political cravenness, try Opera or stick to Safari if you have a Mac.

But don’t give aid and comfort to something that is obviously the opponent of freedom and a friend to feudalists

EPA Pays Salaries To Non-Workers

The Daily Signal reports that from fiscal years 2011 to 2013 the Environmental Protection Agency paid $17,550, 100 in paid administrative leave salaries for 69 employees.

Beside the full salaries, these workers also got health benefits, and the leave counted towards their pensions.

Oh, and they also continued to climb the federal pay scale.

They also got vacations and sick days which leads us to the Zen question “Can you get vacation when you are on vacation?”

One of the workers was on paid leave for over four years, The Daily Signal said. He or she should certainly send a thank you note to President Obama.

Pretty sweet.

Paid administrative leave is supposed to be a punishment.

Who says the federal government can’t be cut?

EEOC Sues ACA Wellness Programs

The Quisling crony capitalists who gave aid and comfort to the passage of the Obamacare disaster have been stabbed in the back and are as angry as wet hornets.

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC)  is suing them — well Honeywell International and two smaller firms anyway but all are in its sights — for the “wellness programs” that were instrumental in getting the bossy-types on board for the “Affordable” Care Act.

It should be understood that the EEOC is under the auspices of the President.

Wellness programs give corporations a chance to question workers about the details of their personal lives, make them undergo screenings, and force them to attend weight-loss or smoking-cessation programs.

Obamacare allows huge incentives for those taking part in workplace wellness programs of up to 50-percent of their monthly premiums, deductibles and other costs. This means smokers and heavy people and people with pre-existing conditions face major financial discrimination, not to mention the invasions of privacy.

The also remarkably stupid American Disabilities Act of 1990 prohibits employers from discriminating against those with disabilities including blindness and mental retardation. This means they can’t require medical testing of employees. Further, the EEOC considers obesity a disability with regards to the act.

Oh, just watch the train wreck.

And this does not even attempt to address trying to get those with dangerous sex lives to change their ways.

The wise and simple solution is to completely ban the practice of employer-provided health care. Give raises to compensate for the loss of the benefits and let the workers buy their insurance in the same fashion they do their homes and food.

Most employers — the successful ones, the ones you want to work for — don’t care about your personal life. All they want from you is for you to show up on time and do what you are paid to do.

They don’t care about your skin color either or, generally, sex.

Get government out of hiring decisions.
