Pennsylvania Energy Keeps America From Dependency

Pennsylvania Energy Keeps America From Dependency

By Don Schreiber

Our Commonwealth produces our own energy, helping to free the United States from the bonds of overseas oil.

We are producing more natural gas then we ever had before and that is great news for Pennsylvania and its residents.  Jobs are being created, industries are growing and revenue is increasing because of the natural gas industry.  Even all our counties receive money directly from an industry severance tax for environmental use to create park space and other quality of life activities that makes us proud to live in our communities.

And, natural gas even helps reduce pollution. Former EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy said, “Natural gas has been a game-changer with our ability to really move forward with pollution reductions that have been very hard to get our arms around for decades.”
So, let us let this industry grow and continue to lower energy consumers costs and not be used as a PA budget solution – something our current Governor is attempting – creating a new energy tax, on top of an already existing severance tax. While this tax will be paid for by the producers of natural gas, the Commonwealth’s Independent Fiscal Office found that a severance tax will ultimately be paid by royalty owners and consumers of natural gas.
For the sake of Pennsylvania’s ratepayers and taxpayers, encourage your State legislators to refuse Governor Wolf’s calls for new energy taxes.

Not so long ago some Englishmen called the Month of March, Lyde which comes from the Old English hlyda which meant loud. It only disappeared from use in the 19th century.

Samuel Call Omnibit Update

We heard from good friend Carris who after reading our Omnibit of Feb. 26 noted Dr. Samuel Call was awarded a Congressional Gold Medal of Honor in 1902 for his part in the rescue of an iced-in Arctic whaling expedition five years earlier.

She noted that the next one to receive such a medal were the Wright Brothers.

Trucker Veggies And Pork Chops

Trucker Veggies And Pork ChopsTrucker Veggies And Pork Chops — A long-haul trucker who worked the mine roads far from truck stops and diners told us how he noshed when he stopped for the night.

He’d make a mix of veggies with some meat, spice them according to his preference, wrap them in aluminum foil, and store them in his cooler. When quitting time came, he’d grill them over a camp fire by the side of his truck with a pot of coffee.

He said it was a wonderfully sublime experience eating on the prairie beneath a  star-filled sky.

And, of course, there were no dishes to wash.

Well, here is our riff on his recipe:

Dice carrots and a potato, and add a sliced onion. Smother them with salt, pepper, powdered garlic and dried parsley; bathe them in olive oil, wrap in foil and place on a hot grill for between 10 and 15 minutes.

Yum.

We had them with pork chops seasoned about the same way sans the parsley.

No coffee though. The wine was a Merlot.

100,000 Noncitizens Registered To Vote In Pa.

100,000 Noncitizens Registered To Vote In Pa. — More than 100,000 noncitizens are registered to vote in Pennsylvania according to a lawsuit filed, yesterday, Feb. 26, by the Public Interest Legal Foundation.

The lawsuit,(PILF v. Torres et. al. 1:18-cv-00463)., was filed in United States District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania and claims the Pennsylvania Department of State refused to allow the PILF to inspect or be furnished documents related to noncitizen registered voters as per required by the National Voter Registration Act (NVRA).

The NVRA allows unfettered physical inspection rights to all records related to voter list maintenance, notes the PILF.

The state would only let the PILF  see records related to voters removed from the rolls because of death or change of residence.

Philadelphia Commissioner Al Schmidt presented a report to the Pennsylvania Assembly in 2017 that detailed how a DOS/PennDOT study of noncitizen driver’s license holders matched records belonging to roughly 100,000 current voters in the statewide registration database.

“For months, Pennsylvania bureaucrats have concealed facts about noncitizens registering and voting—that ends today,” PILF President and General Counsel J. Christian Adams said. “Before this lawsuit, the State admitted to a ‘glitch’ that exposed thousands of driver’s license customers to voter registration offers despite their noncitizen status since the 1990s. The Secretary of State abruptly resigned. DOS officials blocked federal public inspection rights. The PILF hopes to finally get answers about the true scale of noncitizen voting in Pennsylvania and assist lawmakers in crafting reforms that fix it.”

This is a major story. Why would the Department of State withhold this information? Will the Philadelphia Inquirer cover it as it deserves? The Delaware County Daily Times?  Expect to see them circle the wagons to make this go away and protect their favored political party.

Hey Alex Charlton what do you think about this?

Civilian Medal of Honor Recipients William Lawrence Sr Omnibit 2-26-18

Civilian Medal of Honor Recipients — Only  six civilians hold the Congressional Medal of Honor. The medals were awarded in the 19th century.  They were stripped up of them in 1917 — along with 905 others — 834 of whom were with the 27th Maine Volunteer Infantry Regiment who received it for merely re-enlisting, and  29 of whom were with the Lincoln Funeral Guard — when the criteria was strengthened. This included limiting the honor to military personnel.

In 1977, the civilians, all of whom performed acts of indisputable heroism, had their medals reinstated.

The six are Dr. Mary Walker, who was a surgeon during the Civil War; William H. Woodall, a scout during the Civil War; and Indian campaign scouts Amos Chapman, William F. (Buffalo Bill) Cody, William Dixon , and James B. Dozier.

Broward Sheriff Wants Participation Trophy

Broward Sheriff Wants Participation Trophy — Broward County, FL Sheriff Scott Israel, yesterday (Feb. 24) on CNN’s “State of the Union” responded to criticism about his department’s feckless response to the Parkland school massacre that saw 17 students and teachers murdered in cold blood with 14 others wounded.

“I’ve given amazing leadership to this agency,” Israel told Jack Tapper.

He specifically refused to take responsibility for keeping guns out of the hands of Nikolas Cruz despite his deputies having contact with the twisted puppy at least 23 times before Feb. 14.

He said his boys and girls did everything right.

It sounds like Israel, a Democrat, got a lot of participation trophies growing up.
