Yes Anthony, there is a difference between  cow and heifer.

Sort of.

Cows according to some usage are female cattle that have had a calf while heifers are female cattle that have not.

Of course, there are those who insist that cow is a singular for the collective noun cattle which would mean that bulls are cows.
