Delco Must Accept GOP Election Board Nominee, Court Rules

Delco Must Accept GOP Election Board Nominee, Court Rules — The Delaware County GOP announced on its Facebook page, Dec. 13, that it has won its challenge and the Democrat-controlled County Council cannot reject its candidate for minority representative on the Election Board.

State law requires county election boards to have a minority member.

The previous law had Council choose one of three submitted by the minority party.

The Democrats, Jan. 18, passed a tradition-breaking ordinance giving themselves the power to reject all Republican candidates in, basically, perpetuity until they found one they liked.

Hey Bill Martin, how exactly did that little stunt increase understanding and trust with Delco’s election process?

Hopefully, the Delco GOP starts showing an interest in the right-to-know requests filed concerning election matters, especially those the county is fighting to hide despite being overruled by the Pennsylvania Office of Open Records.

Hopefully, the Delco GOP starts getting real loud about the problems going on at the prison.

What good is a loyal opposition if it isn’t opposing anything?

  1. Holy bat crap Batman! If this isn’t a sign of the times, a Democrat government council giving themselves the power to reject any representation by the minority party, then I don’t know what is. I think DECLO may be the beta testbed for larger scale initiatives of this type statewide and federally. The Rs winning their challenge to this absurdity is great, but it’s the fact such a challenge was necessary that is frightening. The Left has removed the remaining shreds of their gloves and are going bare-knuckled full steam ahead with their march towards single party rule.

    1. 100% Andy

That they’d have the gall to do it in the first place is the thing to remember.

As noted in the story there are a couple of easy-peasey and safe issues the GOP — county and state — can start making an issue about with fear of being called “extremists” “racists” “whatever”.

      Will they?

  2. And yet it seems that John McBlain has just been confirmed once again as the minority Board of Elections guy. He was the top choice of Delco Councilwoman Christine Reuther. It seems like the dems appointed their choice in the end, despite the much-acclaimed ruling from Judge Bradley. Did the Delco GOP just snatch defeat from the jaws of victory?
