Linux Makes Computing Fun Again — The wonderful 27-inch iMac we’ve used for a decade-plus got buggy after we took its OS beyond what was recommended. Rather than fix it we got a newer iMac27 — albeit still seven years old — and installed Linux Mint Cinnamon.
Computing is fun again.
No longer is it about woke corporations trying maximize profits along with our dependency on them.
We rediscovered internet radio which once came included with iTunes.
Right now we are listening to Trini Lopez’ version of Guantanamera on Majestic Jukebox Radio.
You can find a flavor of Linux that will run on the older iMac. There is a Linux distro for all hardware.
Try Puppy Linux, you won’t be disappointed.
Linux can make almost any old computer new.
I’m keeping the old computer as is just in case I have to dig up an old file. The games still work.
I have been considering Linux for a while. I am pretty computer savvy…so…how hard is the learning curve to install and use Linux? I have both MAC and PC.
The learning curve for using Linux is almost non-existent for someone who knows Mac & PC.
The popular distributions start with user-friendly shells and you don’t need to use the terminal.
Installing requires creating a installation drive, which is easier done on a PC than a Mac.
It should work on any computer with a USB drive, and will make a decade-plus machine seem like new
