It’s A Dem Dead Heat In Pa. Senate Fight

The latest Rasmussen Poll has endorsed incumbent Arlen Specter with just a two-point lead over Congressman Joe Sestak (D-Pa7) to be the Democrat nominee for the Pennsylvania senate race.

The primary is May 18.

Specter is ahead 44 to 42 percent with 10 percent undecided and 4 percent wishing they could vote for someone else, a wish, btw, that will not come true now that Sestak has knocked everyman challenger Joe Vod Varka off the ballot.

Last month Rasmussen had Specter preferred to Sestak by Democrat voters 48-37 percent.

The most recent Franklin & Marshall Poll had Specter beating Sestak 32 to 12 percent but with 52 percent undecided.

The winner of the primary faces Republican Pat Toomey in November.

What Has Admiral Joe Wrought?

The uncontrolled mouth of Congressman Joe “The Fink” Sestak (D-Pa7)   may send his master down muck creek sans motor.

The  Drudge Report and CBS News are now reporting that the top Republican — Darrell Issa (R-Ca49) — on the House Oversight Committe will call for a special prosecutor if the White House does not address Sestak’s claim that he was offered a job to drop his Senate challenge to party comrade Arlen Specter, the incumbent.

Sestak made the claim in mid-February on “Voice of Reason”, a Comcast Network cable news show hosted by veteran anchor Larry Kane.

Sestak said he could not comment that the job was Navy Secretary but did confirm it was “high up”.

If true, the offer would be a violation of federal anti-bribery laws, along with laws prohibiting government officials from interfering in elections and using federal jobs for for political reasons.

Violation of each provision is punishable by up to one year in jail.

Will Sestakgate become a new word? Well, yes it seems. Remember Mr. President, it’s the cover-up not the crime that gets you in trouble.

Meanwhile, Specter, showing the loyalty to friends and benefactors for which he has become famous, said it sounds like bribery to him and basically double-dog dared Admiral Joe to name names and dates.

F&M Now Has Toomey Beating Specter

The latest Franklin & Marshall poll has Pat Toomey beating incumbent Arlen Specter to represent Pennsylvania in the Senate 33-29 with 32 undecided. This is a direct reversal of March’s results which had Specter up 33-29 with 29 percent  undecided. In January F&M had Toomey & Specter tied at 30.

 
Also in the latest, Toomey beats Congressman Joe Sestak (D-7)  27-19 with 49 percent undecided. This is up from last month which had Toomey ahead 25-22 with 47 percent undecided.
 
And party-endorsed Specter keeps a strong lead over Sestak in the Democrat Primary race 32-12 with 52 percent undecided.
 
The Rasmussen Poll has had Toomey ahead of Specter for three straight months with the most recent tally being 49-40, and Toomey beating Sestak 42-37. 
 
Rasmussen has Specter leading Sestak handily. 
 
A QuinnipiacUniversity poll released March 2, however, has Specter beating Toomey by 7points and Sestak by 24 points.
 
In the GOP gubernatorial primary race, F&M has  Attorney General Tom Corbett  extending his lead over state Rep. Sam Rohrer to 28-4 but 66 percent remain undecided. In January, it was 23-5 with 69 percent undecided.
 
In the four-man Democrat gubernatorial race, Allegheny County Chief Executive Dan Onorato is the front runner favored by 11 percent of the Dem voters followed by state Auditor General Jack Wagner at 7 percent, Montgomery County Commissioner Joe Hoeffel at 5 percent and State Senator Anthony Williams (D-191) at 2 percent with 71 percent undecided.

Presumptive GOP 7thD Nominee Unloads On Corrupt Bill Filled With Backroom Deals

The former U.S Attorney for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and Delaware County District Attorney who is going to almost certainly be the Republican nominee for the Pennsylvania 7th District Congressional seat being vacated by Democrat Joe Sestak for a senate run has spoken out on the health care disaster passed last night by the House of Representatives.

“Dems rammed through legislation that raises taxes on middle class & represents a government takeover of 17% of the economy,” Pat Meehan said on Twitter. “This is a bad bill filled with corrupt backroom deals to secure a bare majority of support. (The) bill could not stand on own merits.”

His expected opponent in November, State Rep. Bryan Lentz (D-161) has called the travesty “The type of common-sense starting point we need to lower costs for the consumer, improve the quality of care and help stabilize our economy.”

Where does the Democrat Party find such geniuses.

Hey Lentz, how about we put in the restrictions on access to lawyers that we just put on access to doctors and nurses and drugs? How about we restrict the actions of lawyers as we just did the actions of doctors and lawyers and drug makers?

It should be noted that Sestak voted for the bill, and was an enthusiastic backer.

Can Admiral Joe Be A Health Care ‘No’?

Residents of Pennsylvania’s 7th District are reportedly getting emails (aka spam) from President Obama asking them to call Congressman Joe Sestak to say  thank you for his vote last fall to socialize our health care system and “to report that OFA supporters in Pennsylvania have pledged 332,199 volunteer hours to back up member of Congress like yours who stand up for health reform”

Sestak wavering on socializing our health care system would be like Ed Rendell joining the Republican Party.

Sestak OK With Terror Trials In Pa., Is Lentz?

Congressman Joe Sestak (D-Pa7) is fine with having the trials of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and his fellow 9/11 plotters  held in a federal court in western Pennsylvania if they should be blocked in New York City or Northern Virginia.

“I would accept them anywhere in America, to be brought here, to bebrought to justice, to have the keys thrown away or to have them giventhe death sentence by a jury of our peers,” said Thursday according to the Wall Street Journal.

If you feel that way, Joe, why bother with the trial? Do you understand the concept of the presumption of innocence? Do you realize that a judge is mandated to throw out tainted evidence, an action that could almost guarantee acquittal? Or do you think we should make exceptions for these guys and, if so, how would that not be a far greater mockery of due process and our system of justice than simply putting them  before military tribunals in accordance with well-established procedures?

Can you comprehend that these guys aren’t afraid of death — which as noted is not guaranteed so imagine them serving a life sentence in federal prison and being a constant source of inspiration for kidnappings and terrorist acts in attempts to free them — and that they would use these trials as platforms for propaganda and the acquisition of sensitive information  which they can funnel to their followers?

I guess not.

To be honest, Joe, I would be far more willing to guarantee a Specter-Toomey senate race this fall than I would KSM’s conviction in a civilian trial much less death.

Which brings us to the race to replace Sestak in the 7th District:  Does Bryan Lentz, the presumptive Democratic nominee agree with Sestak about this state being a fine place for a civilian terror trial? If not, is Lentz, who served in a civil affairs unit in Iraq and  was a prosecutor with the Philadelphia District Attorney’s office, willing to explain to the congressman why such a trial is a real bad idea?

Pat Meehan, the former federal prosecutor and Delaware County D.A. who is going to be the GOP nominee for the seat, certainly can.

Specter Says Reconciliation OK For Destroying Health Care

Sen. Arlen Specter (S as in Specterite-Pa.) has changed his mind. At first blush that’s not news with regard to the longtime Republican who switched to the Dems when it looked like he’d lose the GOP primary, but when you realized Specter is not blushing when he says it regarding this particular matter, it becomes rather remarkable.

Specter was one of 20 senators who signed a letter presented to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Feb. 19,  supporting the use of reconciliation, a process to avoid a Senate filibuster regarding budgetary matters, to pass ObamaCare.

Specter says he changed his mind to support of this dubious action — the people of America are making it clearer by the day they don’t want socialized medicine — because he has learned it has been used many times in the past according to PoliticsPa.Com.

So, Specter — who has been a senator since 1981 — has just come to realized this?

“I have (supported reconciliation) after taking a look at theprecedents and seeing that it has been used very, very broadly,”Specter said.

At least he didn’t cite Scottish law.

The sooner he goes the better off this country will be.


4 Staffers Leave Sestak

Important cogs of Congressman Joe Sestak’s (D-7) Senate campaign have come off the wheel according to Pa2010.com.

Sestak is challenging incumbent and former Republican Arlen Specter in the May 18 Primary Election.

Political Director Rich Culbert and press operative Garry Ritterstein left soon after the  Democratic State Committee, Feb. 7, endorsed  Specter over Admiral Joe.

Others who left  were Jason Henry, who was effectively the campaign’s political
director for western Pennsylvania who took his leave in mid-January and Andrew Blum of volunteer operations who left in late January.

Sen. Specter Casts 10,000th Vote

Arlen Specter was praised by fellow Democrats, Jan. 25, after casting the 10,000 vote of as senator during a reign that began in 1981.

From the “magic bullet theory” to getting Ira Einhorn free on bail to an imaginative citation of Scottish law to keep President Bill Clinton in office after his impeachment, Arlen Specter has certainly made himself part of history.

May 2010 be the last year he casts a Senate vote.

RI Senator Disses Sestak After Sestak Endorses Him

Congressman Joe Sestak (D-Pa7), who is seeking to replace fellow Dem Arlen Specter as Pennsylvania senator, said in a Jan. 22 interview with TalkingPointsMemo.Com that the Democrats running the Senate lack courage especially piling on Harry Reid of Nevada.

He said he thought Sen. Jack Reed of Rhode Island should be leading things.

Reed responded by saying he’s endorsing Specter for re-election and  Dingy Harry as Majority Leader.
