Fitzpatrick Misses Swearing In

Mike Fitzpatrick, the Republican congressman who unseated Patrick Murphy in November to retake the Pa-8 District seat he lost to Murphy in 2006, missed his swearing in ceremony Wednesday.

He was mingling with supporters in the Capitol visitor center when the ceremony occurred so he took his oath there, which was of such dubious constitutionality that he  had the oath re-administered, yesterday, by the Speaker.

Fitzpatrick is being portrayed by certain media parties as being in a meeting with fundraisers when the swearing-in occurred, but that seems a cheap shot since the $30 fee that had been advertised to attend the event appears to have been for bus transportation from Bucks County to D.C.

Walk-ins were not charged.

Still, people are watching Mike.

12th Day Of Christmas Song

While one can dispute whether today or yesterday was the 12th Day of Christmas , here is a medley of songs done on Apple iPhones and iPads to wrap up the season.

The concert took place at Northpoint Community Church in suburban Atlanta.

Christie Waves Bye To 7 Educrats

Christie Waves Bye To 7 Educrats — New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie has declined to renew the contracts of seven county school superintendents whose mission it is is  to see that local districts follow state Education Department policies.

Their salaries were $120,000 and their contracts expired Monday. They will be replaced by Christie appointees who will presumably not meet the NJEA’s seal of approval.

The seven who will be joining the ranks of the unemployed were the superintendents of  Burlington, Cape May, Hunterdon, Monmouth, Ocean, Somerset  and Middlesex counties. The Middlesex superintendent  was also acting superintendent for Bergen County.

Tom Corbett are you taking notes?

A Great Experience At DN Supply

Had a great experience, yesterday, at DN Supply , 80 E. Baltimore Pike, Lansdowne.

The shop, which we use for plumbing materials, is not just for contractors. We had to replace a 50-year-old commode and amazingly enough they had one that was a remarkably close color to our 50-year-old sink that we did not have to replace.

Even more remarkably it was two-thirds the price of the one that we were considering at Home Depot that was not a good color match.

The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and patient with questions from novices.

Quote Of The Day From T.S. Eliot

Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don’t mean to do harm- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.

Half Of Catholic Sex Abuse Claims May Be False

Half Of Catholic Sex Abuse Claims May Be False — An attorney who has represented Catholic priests accused of sexual abuse filed, Dec. 15, a declaration in Los Angeles County Superior Court that his investigations have revealed vast fraud among the accusers and that many accusations — possibly up to half — are completely false or exaggerated to the extent that they “would not have supported a prosecutable claim for childhood sexual abuse”.

The document was submitted under penalty of perjury.

He noted that plaintiffs have refused to take polygraph tests unlike the accused; often filed claims after learning of others receiving financial settlements; and changed facts such as times and locations over the course of the case.

He singled out the advocacy group SNAP (Survivors Network of Those Abused by Priests) which he said features a website where information could be shared and a “blueprint” for an allegation be made.

The church has doled out $1 billion in settlements to the accusers — and their lawyers — since 2005.

DADT Questions Never Asked

DADT Questions Never Asked — Here is an email flying around the web regarding the lame-duck repeal of the military’s “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy concerning the sexual orientation of service personnel. It’s attributed to an unnamed retired Marine colonel. While the writer’s identity is obviously not verifiable, the questions he raises, however, are certainly worth considering.

“I was skeptical of DADT also.  But, it worked because the objective was to permit individuals to serve.  Not once did I ask a Marine if he or she was a homosexual or a heterosexual.  It was not an issue for me, and the Marines with whom I served never made it an issue.

Unlike DADT, the current agenda in not about individual service.  It is a political agenda focused on total integration and acceptance not of individuals but of the homosexual lifestyle.

I think ending DADT suddenly is a major distraction to combat readiness and good order and discipline. Special interest groups whose primary intent is fostering total acceptance not only of homosexuals but the homosexual lifestyle are using the Armed Forces as a judicial lab rat.

I am suspect of any person who puts any personal issue above devotion to duty and accomplishment of mission.  Are we Marines 24/7?  What is more important one’s sexuality, one’s religion, one political party, or the imperatives of duty?

On a practical level:

I am not sure what serving “Openly” as a homosexual means.  I would like to see a definition  Is all homosexual conduct permitted?  Such as, cross dressing and going to the PX?  What conduct is not permitted?  From a command and leadership perspective these questions need to be addressed, and the Congress needs to make the necessary adjustments to the UCMJ.

When someone joins the Armed Forces must he/she declare their sexuality (i.e. male or female; homo/hetero)?

I want to know how Federal hate speech laws apply to the Armed Forces. For example,  if a non-homosexualMarine calls a homosexual Marine a “faggot” is that hate speech?  Will company commanders be required to take judicial action?  If no judicial action is taken, will commanders be subject to civil or criminal suit by various homosexual political groups and their elected sponsors.

Will a career Marine’s personal opinion on homosexuality become an impediment to promotion or assignment to key billets?

Specifically, is the belief that homosexuality is a choice and homosexual acts immoral not compatible with military service?

Do the Senate and the House Armed Services committees intend to demand sexuality statistics to make certain that homosexuals are being promoted at the same rate as non-homosexuals?   Will homosexuals be promoted at a faster rate to “compensate” for previous years of discrimination?

Since same sex marriage is not authorized by Federal Law is a married homosexual from MA authorized to enlist?  Does the spouse of a married homosexual rate a dependent’s ID card?  Will “partners” of homosexuals be given dependent status?

If yes, what is the definition of a “partner”, one night stand, one year relationship.  How often may a homosexual change partners and the partner still rate dependent benefits?  Will partners of homosexuals beassigned to on-base housing?  Do former “partners” of active duty homosexuals retain dependent benefits (like a divorced spouse) when divorce is not a legal option?

Will homosexual Marines be permitted to date each other? Live with each other as “partners” in the BOQ/BEQ”?  How does this affect fraternization regulations?

Will homosexuals be deployed to countries where there is no SOFA in place in which homosexuality is a crime?  If no, who picks up the slack?

Are there any assignments to which homosexuals must be or may not be assigned?  For example, may an elected official demand a homosexual officer as a military aide?

Will homosexuals who become HIV positive still be discharged?  Is being HIV positive now a “service connected” injury which rates disability?

These are just the tip of the ice berg.  I have no doubt that right now there are active duty colonels who are just now discovering their real sexuality and can’t wait to be the FIRST OPENLY HOMOSEXUAL GENERAL!

To sum it up, it is approaching FUBAR status!  I fear for the future of our Corps.

Hawaiian Governor Birth Certificate Pledge

Hawaiian Governor Birth Certificate Pledge — The “birther” movement begun by prominent Montgomery County, Pa. Democrat Philip J. Berg is back thanks to another Democrat, Hawaiian Gov.-Elect Neil Abercrombie.

Berg, who had served eight years as Pennsylvania’s deputy attorney general, filed suit in U.S. District Court in Philadelphia, Aug. 21, 2008 claiming that Barack Obama was ineligible to be president because he was born on foreign soil to a foreign parent hence violating the Constitution’s natural born citizen requirement.

Berg was a Hillary Clinton supporter.

Berg’s suit was dismissed in October 2008 by Judge R. Barclay Surrick and rejected by the Supreme Court two months later.

Berg, however, did not go away and the unwillingness by Obama to release documents that would quickly and conclusively put the matter to rest soon started other Americans going hmmmm.

By August 2010, according to a CNN poll, only 42 percent of Americans believe for certain Obama is eligible for the job.

Granted another 29 percent believe he probably is so it hasn’t reached the point of a complete collapse of confidence in government.

Still a wise leader would end the matter as fast as possible and that’s what Abercrombie said he wants to do .

Of course, state law would appear to prevent him from doing so without President Obama’s permission so unless that is obtained a whole lot more people will start going hmmmmmm.

Obama may be the least vetted man to ever hold the office.

Kyle-Anne Shiver of  Pajamas Media has published this list of documents that Obama has refused to make public that a man running for the presidency of the United States would be expected to.

1. 1961 long-form, original, signed birth certificate
2. Marriage license between Obama’s father (Barack Sr.) and mother (Stanley Ann Dunham) — not found, not released
3. Obama’s  baptism records — sealed
4. Obama’s adoption records — sealed
5. Records of Obama’s and his mother’s repatriation as U.S. citizens on return from Indonesia — not found, not released
6. Name change (Barry Sotero to Barack Hussein Obama) records — not found, not released
7. Noelani Elementary School (Hawaii) — not released
8. Punahou School financial aid or school records — not released
9. Occidental College financial aid records — not released.
10. Columbia College records — not released
11. Columbia senior thesis — not released
12. Harvard Law School records — not released
13. Obama’s law  client list — sealed
14. Obama’s files from career as an Illinois state senator — sealed
15. Obama’s record with Illinois State Bar Association — sealed
16.  Obama’s medical records — not released
17. Obama’s passport records — not released

Hawaiian Governor Birth Certificate PledgeFor some irony, Obama’s path to the U.S. Senate was cleared when records pertaining to the divorce of Jack Ryan were ordered unsealed against Ryan’s wishes. The information in them created a scandal which forced Ryan from the race.

For Delaware County residents, R. Barclay Surrick is a former county Common Pleas Court judge and the estranged brother of Pennsylvania judicial reformer Bob Surrick .

Kind Republicans, Greedy Dems

Kind Republicans, Greedy Dems — Thinking Americans have long known that those inclined to vote Republican are far, far, far more generous in giving to charities than those who vote Democrat.

Unthinking Americans, of course, don’t believe this. Of course, unthinking Americans are the ones who vote Democrat.

Conservatives give about 30 percent more in charities than the self-righteous, self-centered “progressives” if you should not feel like clicking on the above link to the source.

This is most glaring in their political leaders. Gigolo John Kerry is known for having a year in which he did not make a charitable contribution and the Obamas, Joe Biden and Al Gore are also known for being notably stingy, unlike the Bushes or even Rush Limbaugh.

Charitable giving is going to be the subject of tonight’s Stossel which airs at 9 and midnight on Fox Business Channel.

On a related note, Democrats are far more likely to believe in extraterrestrials than Republicans . If ET does show up, however, expect it to be a conservative Tea Party guy who lends him the phone to make that call.

Cat From Heaven

Cat From Heaven — There was once a kindly old priest who had a small kitten. Unfortunately, the cat climbed up a tree and was afraid to come down. The tree was not sturdy enough to climb, so the priest was inspired to try something else. He tied a rope to his car and pulled it until the tree bent down.

He tried to reach the kitten, but the tree was still too high from the ground. So he pulled the tree further from his car, but alas, the rope broke. The tree suddenly uncoiled itself and sprung back into an upright position, flinging the cat into the air and out of sight with high velocity.

The old priest felt terrible! He walked all over the neighborhood asking people if they’d seen a little kitten, but nobody had. With nothing more to be done, he offered a prayer and commended the cat into the hands of the Lord.

A few days later, the old priest was in the grocery store and met one of his parishioners. He happened to look into her shopping cart and was amazed to see cat food. The woman was not particularly regarded as an animal lover, so he inquired about the reason for the cat food.

The woman explained that her youngest daughter had been nagging her for a pet kitten for some time. After repeatedly denying the child’s requests, the exasperated woman finally informed the girl that the only way she would ever get a cat is if God Himself would deliver one. Just then, she said, a cat came flying out of the sky, with its paws outstretched, and landed right front of her!

Wonder of wonders? Miracles of miracles? Never underestimate the Power of God – nor His unique sense of humor!

“How great are Your works O Lord, in wisdom You have made them all!” (Psalm 104:24) Remember, anyone can count the seeds in an apple; but only God can count the apples in a seed.
