The first fact to know is that there has not been a GOP in the Pennsylvania attorney general’s chair since 2008.

Since incumbent Democrat Michelle Henry is not running, we will not have an incumbency effect.

Two are on the ballot for the April 23 primary to be the Republican nominee.

Party endorsed is Dave W. Sunday, Jr.

Maybe his slogan can be Vote Sunday on Tuesday.

His opponent is Craig Williams.

Sunday of York is a US Navy Veteran and a graduate of Penn State and Widener University Law School. He is the York County district attorney and among his accomplishments are  Operation Sunrise, a large-scale multi-jurisdictional that led to the arrest and prosecution of over 100 members and affiliates of the Latin Kings which was a violent criminal gang operating in York County. His office also co-chairs   HOME | YCRC, the York County Reentry Coalition, seeking to help returning people who have been incarcerated.

Sunday has worked with the York County coroner to begin what became the York County Opioid Collaborative, which works to increase access to treatment.

Through this, he equipped all police with the overdose reversal medicine naloxone.

He also countermanded Gov. Tom Wolf’s orders to cite businesses staying open during Covid.

Sunday issued a similar mandate not to prosecute citations related to Wolf’s 2021 order requiring masking in schools. “

He lives with his wife and son in Spring Garden in York County.

Alabama-born Craig Williams graduated from Duke University, The Levin College of Law (University of Florida) and Columbia Law School. He is a USMC veteran of 28 years who reached the rank of colonel. Williams flew 56 combat missions during the Gulf War and served as chief prosecutor at Camp Pendleton, He was elected in 2020 to the PA House, representing District 160 which consists of parts of Chester and Delaware counties.

Williams, 58, helped lead the charge to impeach Philly DA Larry Krasner

He’s also remembered as losing by 20 points to Joe Sestak in a 2008 US Congress race.

He lives with his wife and four children.

The Democrats have five candidates int the AG primary. This requires a separate post.

Stay tuned.

No Choice In Pennsylvania Primaries For US Senate

No Choice In Pennsylvania Primaries For US Senate

By Bob Small

When one first viewed the dueling slates of candidates for the Pennsylvania US senate seat, there were two Democrats and three Republicans listed, enough to have an interesting Primary.

The incumbent, Bob Casey, Jr. is still remembered by many alternative party adherents for forcing Green Party candidate Carol Romanelli off the ballot in 2006 and, at one point, he was ordered to pay $100,000 in court costs, later appealed.

On March 4, Democrat William Parker was ordered off the ballot for insufficient signatures.

Thus the Democrats have again protected Bob Casey, Jr. from a meaningful debate before the Primary.

Dave McCormick is again running for the US Senate, two years after losing to Doctor Oz, for the right to face John Fetterman.

This year, they were not taking chances of a loss again.

McCormick was endorsed by the state party in September.

It is believed to be the first time the state party has endorsed a candidate for an election more than a year away.

Brandi Tomasetti, of Lancaster County ended her campaign against McCormick, March 8, with a court challenge pending regarding her nominating petitions.

“We will never surrender the country. We lost a battle but we will win the war,” she said. She asked voters to write in her name.

On March 11, Commonwealth Court ordered Joseph Vodvarka of Clinton be struck from the GOP ballot leaving McCormick uncontested.

To see his campaign site, go to Joseph Vodvarka for Senate! while it’s still up there. Actually, we just checked, it’s no longer up there.

So the primary race is pointless for U.S. Senate.

Ved Dookhun, of the Socialist Workers Party is the only third party candidate so far who will be on the ballot.

One expects that, at the very least, that the Pennsylvania chapters of the Constitution Party, the Green Party, the Libertarian Party, and maybe even the No Labels Party, will run candidates.

Of course, the chance of any of these candidates winning is, as they say “slim and none and slim just left town.”

For the Journey of the Never Trumpers

For the Journey of the Never Trumpers

By Bob Small

For a while my posts have included the lesser-known Democrat and Republican presidential candidates, some of whom have great ideas and some others who choose to run. Now that Donald J. Trump has almost clinched the delegates needed for the nomination.

It’s just a matter of time as he only needs approximately 150.

However, among the GOP faithful, there are a band of what can be called “Never Trumpers.” Since Nikki Haley dropped out, they have nowhere to go.

Or so they believe.

There are approximately 60 GOP candidates with internet information, either a website or Facebook, or other internet listings, listed under “Other Republicans” at Politics1.com

Only three of my six posts on GOP candidates are still relevant as the other three have dropped out.

Still running are: E.W. Jackson, a Chester native; James Meroney and John Schiess.

Eventually, the Republican Party will coalesce around Donald Trump, as the Democrats have already coalesced around Joe Biden but they probably need some time for what we call, in other contexts, “acceptance”. I’ll just point out that there are still Republicans in the race to ease them into the reality.

John Schiess, A Well-Traveled GOP Candidate

John Schiess, A Well-Traveled GOP Candidate

By Bob Small

John Schiess is a fascinating GOP Presidential Candidate. Though currently in Wisconsin, he has lived in Alaska, Arizona, and Oregon, at least, and ran for the Senate two years ago in Alaska.

He believes several unsubstantiated “conspiracy theories”, the most fascinating of is what he calls “reconquista

He goes on to connect this with the CPUSA who, he alleges, are working with the “Mexican Reconquista” movement to take over the US. This group is so clever they have removed themselves from the Internet! However, there was a historic “Reconquista”, and concerned taking the Iberian Peninsula from the Muslims.

He also is concerned about “Agenda 21” which he says is a UN plan to abolish private property; base world government on public decree and not individual rights; reduce the population; subvert the principles of the Declaration of Independence; and destroy the governing authority of the United States Constitution.

Now, there’s a legend that when Leon Trotsky worked on the failed revolution of 1905, he only went door to door to gather people, not by letter or phone, etc. so that the Czar’s Secret Police wouldn’t have knowledge of this.

This cannot be verified by the internet, either.

In the “general statement section he says “If President Obama met Daniel Boone at the Cumberland Gap, he would be ticketed for not having covered wagon and horse insurance, or maybe not having a seat belt. Mr. Boone might also be in trouble for unregistered firearms, children not registered in school, and the lack of healthcare insurance. “

And in Barron Co. Sex Pollution Resolution he compares Al Capone to the Kremlin Leaders,

My thoughts were always that Al Capone was a capitalist with a big C, rather than a Socialist.

He also has a list of quotes including this one from Subversion Quotes;

“Most people don’t realize that the Kremlin has already invaded America” Archibald Roosevelt (1959) the fifth son of Theodore Roosevelt and under Virtue Quotes; “If we pamper or exhibit too much patience for the weak and degenerate, they become a cancer on the nation” -Lindsey Williams

Maybe he’s the Vermin Supreme of the GOP.

The What If Question In The Presidential Race

The What If Question In The Presidential Race

By Bob Small

The question of what would happen if either of the two leading Presidential Contenders left the race keeps coming up.  This is due to Biden’s age and the continuing court dramas regarding Donald Trump.

My personal prediction is that neither of those candidates will be there in November. Of course, my prediction was that the Eagles would win the 2023 Super Bowl.  This is an article covering the various possibilities:   What if Biden or Trump suddenly leaves the 2024 race?

In the “another one bites the dust” section of the Political News, Marianne Williamson has left the Democratic race.

The 71- year old philosophized “I read a quote the other day that said sunsets are proof that endings can be beautiful, too,” the 71-year-old said. She had earlier said that the US “needed a season of repair”, but was unable to convince more than 4 percent of the Democratic voters that she was the person for the job.

In another report, she said  “As of today, we are suspending our campaign. While the level of our failure is obvious to all, a level of success is real nonetheless.”

Not sure what that means either.

This lack of clarity may have been the story of her campaign or non-campaign.

Even as she was ending her campaign, she had a running battle with clarity

“As with every other aspect of my career over the last 40 years, I know how ideas float through the air forming ever new designs,” she said.

She finished with only 2 percent of the vote,

The only well-known Democratic candidate remaining is Dean Phillips, a Minnesota congressman, whose star may begin rising now, as it becomes clearer and clearer to the Democratic party that Jospeh Biden should not be running in 2024.  This may also help RFK, Jr, notwithstanding whether he runs as a Democrat, Independent, Libertarian, etc.

Maybe the Dems need to review their options from among the Politics1.com Democratic Candidate list.

Rollan Roberts Has Left The Race

Rollan Roberts Has Left The Race

By Bob Small

Rollan Roberts has left the race.

The West Virginia businessman had been seeking the Republican nomination for president. A seventh-place finish in the Iowa Caucus along with an unfortunate viral video showing him not immediately rushing to his pregnant wife’s assistance meant that it was time to turn off the lights.

His wife, Rebecca Lea, when she collapsed while he was making an announcement.

She turned out to be fine and Rollan really didn’t seem to get what was happening.

It looked bad, though, and this, unlike his policy proposals, is what went all over the internet.

The 14 pages of “Policies of the Roberts Presidency”, include some rather striking ideas.

“No one will pay tax on the first $40-60,000 they earn depending on how they file,” Roberts says. “The Flat Tax Rate Table is paid only on monies earned in that range. “

“All existing student loan debt will be settled at a reduced rate and paid by the public endowments of institutions that used public money to enrich themselves,” Roberts says.

Hypocritical Harvard’s $50.9 billion endowment being used to make good on the poor suckers trapped in life-long debt after spending fortunes on worthless degrees?

We like that.

Roberts also wants to extend the school day until 5 p.m. for high school students. The high school stuff would be from 8 a.m. until noon and the college or trade school stuff the remainder.

Roberts “grew up in the holler of Beaver, West Virginia” and received his MBA from Liberty University, and DBA (Doctor of Business Administration) from California Intercontinental University.

He is the head of the U.S. Center for Diplomacy .

Roberts noted that Donald Trump is “the predominate front runner”.

Possibly some of his ideas will outlive his candidacy.

Change Starts With Committee Seats, Delegates

Dear Editor

I watched the same Aston GOP Committee members run uncontested for the past decade or more while we lost the 161st State House, the State Senate in the 9th, the 5th Congressional District, our check and balance in the US Senate to John Fetterman, our once solid Moderate Republican County Council to Radical Progressive Democrats and now a decade of the two tyrants Tom “lockdown the state” Wolf and Josh “lockup the nuns” Shapiro.

Not to mention no less than four of them hold Township Commissioner seats. That is a full discussion for another day. The loss of services, property tax increases and the continued burden of the 1 person income tax that is supposed to keep property taxes low are met with residents overwhelmed and businesses closing, leaving or simply not arriving.

I believe Aston Township has better days ahead, I believe that because I want to serve the community that has benefited me in so many ways. Living in the township since 1985 I have spent the majority of my working years employed in Aston including eleven years at my previous job in the 7th Ward until 2018 and have worked in the 6th Ward since.

Vote for Joseph B Dychala and Wendy Ann Willauer for Aston Township Republican 7th Ward Committee Man and Committee Woman in the Pennsylvania Primary this April. Also please vote Wendy Ann Willauer for Delegate to represent Delaware County at the Republican National Convention on the same ballot.

United We Stand.
