Fear Of A Dem Pro-Life Candidate

Fear Of A Dem Pro-Life Candidate

By Bob Small

Having been arrested at anti-government demonstrations, I have nothing but respect — never mind the cause — for those willing to be arrested for a belief.

The would include Terrisa Bukovinac. She is among those seeking the Democratic nomination for president

Ms. Bukovinac is the founder of Progressive Anti-Abortion Uprising (PAAU) which she says is a “liberal pro-life group”.  She says that The Progressive case against abortion “is inconsistent with the noon-violent instincts of feminism to tie the liberation of women to the elimination of any group of human beings”.

The Christian Post notes Ms. Bukovinac’s group includes pro-life activists who have been convicted of federal charges — and face 11 year sentences — in connection with a 2020 lockdown” of a D.C. abortion clinic.

Ms. Bukovinac has been rallying to their defense.

Ms. Bukovinac was also among those outside the federal prosecutor’s office, last October, protesting the persecution of Mark Houck

She talks about the need to bring back the concept of “ rescue”.  Rescue is a PAAU tactic that involves “entering abortion facilities to pass out roses with pregnancy help information attached to abortion-minded patients.”

She has also served on the boards of Democrats for Life of  America and Rehumanize International

The loyal Democrats of Swarthmore had never mentioned either to me.

In this Minimise interview, she simply says “I want to change the way that humanity views unborn life.”

In this CRUX interview, she asks the question, as an atheist, “if we only get one life to live and there’s no God to bring about justice in the end , how could abortion be just?”.

She believes we need “a willingness to disrupt the status quo.”

“No social justice movements are won without critical nonviolent direct action,” she says.

She is a co-leader of Secular Pro Life and serves on the board of Let them Live.

Here is an update regarding the D.C. Abortion Blockade trial.

Most of the updates, for some reason, seem to be from The Christian Post.

My arrests for civil disobedience also had to do with disagreements about US Government Policy.

My time in jail was hours, however, not years.

Clapping For Walter Clapp

Clapping For Walter Clapp

By Bob Small

We couldn’t clap for Walter Clapp last Wednesday (Aug. 23) t as he wasn’t on stage.  Along with the horde of lesser-known GOP presidential candidates — the Dems have just as many — he did not have a place on the stage, nor, truth be told, any chance of getting there.

This is a shame because Walter D. Clapp, a Montana attorney and a graduate of Georgetown University Law Center, is also “one of the first Rural Incubator Project for Lawyers to serve middle class Montanans”.

He believes social issues are “best left to the states”.  He also believes “Every day we fight a battle that rages between our ears.  It’s a war between  love and hate, good and evil, truth and untruth. My message is that the Republican Party stands for good, for truth, and yes, for love.”

Clapping For Walter Clapp

Among other projects he plans, that none of the other candidates will do, is “setting out on a cross-country trip driving a team of horses and a wagon this fall.”

Can’t we see Chris Christie joining him with his New Jersey horses?

He also pledges to “Uncap the House”, “Amend the Constitution” so as to be able to call a convention of the states, and promote exploration in space for “Americans to mine minerals in space”.

Maybe Vivek could be part of that first group in outer space.

For the latest on this aspect, see  A horse-drawn POTUS hopeful hits the road – Montana Free Press

He’s also involved with Honor Coin Law, which has to do with cryptocurrency, though I found their whole explanation cryptic, as I often do.

Lastly, he’s not the only presidential candidate this cycle from Montana.

Castro For President?

Castro For President?

By Bob Small

Texan John Anthony Castro is running for President while suing the most recent ex-President.  He is a Republican with a history as a union organizer, who launched a successful living wage campaign.

At the onset of the Iraqui invasion, he resigned from West Point in protest of the “illegal” invasion believing Iraq was not involved in 911.

His anti-corruption efforts helped to bring arrests in Laredo.

The graduate from Georgetown Law School has a wife and two children.

In his Plan for America he believes we must teach “the best of the best in every field from both a conservative worldview and a liberal worldview”. He would include civics and social studies taught by Noam Chomsky (my ital).

In another part, he asks “Why are we not feeding America’s students?”    His solution includes expanding “the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program to cover our nation’s college students”

There’s also a Topic Heading entitled  “Universal Pre-K for Working Parents”

Reading all this, one has to remember he is a Republican.

Castro began his lawsuit against Donald Trump on Friday, Jan. 6th “asking a judge to declare Trump constitutionally ineligible to hold Office” under the 14th Amendment., which states that “No person”  ..”shall be a President” who “shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion “

Castro gives his rationale in this Newsweek article

“Now we have this contest of who can be the most extreme, and it just keeps getting worse and worse. And it’s icing out the moderates, which actually make up the vast majority of the Republican Party. And then they wonder why they keep losing.”

To see the docket report: Castro v. Trump 9:2023cv80015 – Justia Dockets & Filings

Not everyone thinks Castro should be suing Trump

Castro holds enough interesting opinions that one hopes he somehow is included in some of the 2024 discussions.

Brian Fitzpatrick To Be Primaried By Mark Houck

Brian Fitzpatrick To Be Primaried By Mark Houck — Civil Rights activist Mark Houck announced, today, Aug. 2, that he will challenge incumbent Pennsylvania Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick in the state’s 2024 Republican primary election, which will be April 23.

The announcement was made on Don’t Back Down hosted by Stan Casacio and Andy Teitelman on WWDB.

Fitzpatrick represents the 1st District which consists of Bucks County along with parts of Montgomery County and Philadelphia.

Houck made national news when he was arrested at his home the early morning of Sept. 23 by 25 heavily armed FBI agents who arrived in a convoy of 15 vehicles.

Houck was charged with a federal law prohibiting the blocking of access to abortion clinics for incident that occurred in October 2021. He was acquitted by a Philadelphia jury on Jan. 30 when it was revealed he was no where near the clinic’s entrance and the incident, which involved minor shoving, had been instigated by abortion-escort Bruce Love. Love walked 50 feet to where Houck was and berated his daughter.

Fitzpatrick, a former FBI agent, is known for his hatred of the anti-globalist MAGA movement. He was one of just nine House Republicans to vote to hold  Steve Bannon  in contempt of Congress.

Houck is a teacher who has a masters degree in education.

Cornell West Would Not Be A Spoiler

Cornell West Would Not Be A Spoiler

By Bob Small

Full disclosure: I’m a registered Green Party member having participated in Green Party presidential campaigns, those of Ralph Nader and Jill Stein. I haven’t been active for a while, but Cornell West might just re-activate me.

There’s a lot to know about Dr. Cornell West.

He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Harvard in three years and  taught at Harvard and Princeton. He has authored 20 books, the latest being Prophetic Fire, about 20th-century African-American leaders. He’s included in music albums and  movies. He is well known for his participation in various protest movements. He is married to a psychologist, Iranian immigrant named Dr. Annahita Mahdavi West,  a professor at Long Beach City College.

Cornell West Would Not Be A Spoiler

In June, West announced he was running to be 2024 candidate for the MPP (Movement for a People’s Party), which he founded  with other disgruntled Sanders supporters.

However, after some issues arose about MPP,  Chris Hedges introduced West to the Green Party and he changed his plan.

“America must be a nation among nations that is committed to justice,” and West. “I’ve said over and over again: if and when I win I’m not going to the White House until everyone has a house.”

Jill Stein, a former Green Party presidential candidate, is managing West’s campaign.

The decision does not sit well with all on the Left. Joan Walsh, writing in The Nation, doesn’t believe West should be running.

I don’t believe anyone has the right to tell anyone not to run for president.

With regard to West possibly taking votes from Trump, Caitlin Johnstone says this on the site formerly known as Twitter: One of the stupidest things all American liberals believe is that if the Green Party candidate drops out of a presidential election the antiwar socialists who would’ve voted for them will go ‘Oh darn, I guess I may as well vote for that warmongering capitalist Democrat then. . . .I guess it has something to do with Democrats believing they’re on the ‘left’. So they see a candidate running on a left-wing platform, and they think ‘Hey, they’re stealing our votes!’ When really they’re just a bunch of closet rightists who real leftists hate.”

Thanks to radical brother John Murphy for sending me this quote.

Last question — why do only Democrats use the term “spoiler” ?

Larry Elder Time Has Arrived?

Larry Elder Time Has Arrived?

By Bob Small

One of the more well-known second-tier candidates for the upcoming presidential race is African-American Larry Elder, aka Lawrence Allen Elder, the 72-year-old California radio talk-show host of The Larry Elder Show. In the “crime” section of his campaign web site, he says that one reason he’s running is to support “the Enforce-the-Law Act” to rein in the George Soros-backed prosecutors and hold them “accountable”.

He’s known for his candidacy in the 2021 California gubernatorial recall election, in which he garnered an astounding 48 percent of the vote!

Elder grew up in South Los Angeles and is a graduate of Brown University and the University of Michigan Law School. This article lists 14 links at the end, including one to an article stating that Elder’s ex-fiancée has become his biggest critic, and another one entitled “Elder and Newsom: A Special Relationship”.

He opposes college-admission racial preferences as “hurting more qualified students” and says that “the people that supposedly benefit end up dropping out. You put somebody on a campus where the pace is too fast, and they’re not going to be able to keep up.”

When he was first offered a job as a talk show host, he discussed it with his then-wife, Cynthia, a physician. According to him, the conversation went like this:

Larry: “I think of talk radio as stupid, shallow, and glib”.

Cynthia: “It is, you’d be good at it”.

Elder later stated that this “gives you an idea of that marriage”.

His private life has taken several twists and turns since then.

For another view of Larry Elder, see Opinion | The Off-Mic Moment That Changed My View of Larry Elder

Larry Elder is also a prolific author.

Note: Only a Black man could get away with titling a book Stupid Black Men: How to Play the Race Card — and Lose.

Lastly, Larry Elder is challenging the RNC debate limits.

RNC debate limits are bad for the party and the American people

“Restricting speech is the way of the regressive left, obsessed with censorship on college campuses and in corporate boardrooms. Republicans have long championed free speech.”

Hopefully, some of the second-tier GOP candidates will be included in the upcoming debate(s).

Could Ryan Binkley Be Pastor-in-Chief In 2024

Could Ryan Binkley Be Pastor-in-Chief In 2024

By Bob Small

Fifty-five-year-old North-Texas businessman and pastor Ryan Binkley feels “we have to be unified” and “it’s time for us to believe”, and that he is the person to lead us.

Blinkley is among those running for president in 2024

Binkley is president and CEO of Generational Group, which has a dozen regional offices in the US.

He co-founded the Create Church with his wife Ellen, where they are the lead pastors. They have five children.

He also founded the Way to Freedom. The Way to Freedom is a 501 (c) (4) organization that seeks to rejoin conservative voices with compassionate voices.

A quote from his interview with D Magazine is “when we return to God, return to trusting each other, and return to wisdom to govern, our nation will never be the same.”

Could Ryan Binkley Be Pastor-in-Chief In 2024

Binkley contrasts the time he has spent working for various companies with a 1995 church mission trip that he made to Guatemala, and discusses the ways in which the business part of his life intersects with the church part. He adds that “God really spoke to me that business was really part of my calling.”

He had some interesting ideas that he describes in the Word and Way interview.

While supporting the GOP’s positions on marriage and abortion, he says that, as a pastor, he believes that “the Democratic Party, in some ways, has a stronger position” on issues like “caring for the immigrant or for the poor”. He adds that “God is neither Republican or Democrat”.

A Google search for “articles about Ryan Binkley” yielded a list of fifty-some web citations spanning twelve pages. Among these is the Daily Beast article Texas Pastor and Businessman Ryan Binkley Announces Run for President.

Binkley’s ability to get his name out there online and his financial backing are both impressive. But it is doubtful he will become the first “Pastor-in-Chief” since Jimmy Carter.

On the other hand, the article below points out that unlikely things do happen.

Nobody Thought Jimmy Carter Had a Chance in the Presidential Primary

Introduction To Alternative Candidates

Introduction To Alternative Candidates

By Bob Small

Years ago, when we were involved with Democracy Unplugged, we would seek out alternative candidates for some of our debates. We contacted people from the Delco Democrats and the Delco GOP, designated speakers supporting Barack Obama and Mitt Romney, our two “legitimate” presidential candidates. We would seek “alternative” candidates by looking at the webpages of Politics1.com

We defined legitimate “alternative” candidates as those with either a Facebook presence or a website. Obviously, these  “alternative” candidates did not have any chance of winning, but they had ideas worth hearing, and we wanted to give them a voice at a forum, whether they represented the Constitution Party or a socialist party or were Independents.

On the Politics 1 2024 presidential candidates’ pages, the names of the major candidates are followed by an alphabetical listing of the alternative candidates for each party.

Under the subheading “other Republicans”, Hugo Aguilar’s name is listed second from the top. He is the first candidate I am looking into, because I am ignoring candidates who have no website or Facebook presence.

Here’s the link for Aguilar’s campaign, sponsored by the CBC (Christian based company) Adam Advancement.

Here’s where it becomes interesting.

On this website, one sees references to the following “campaign trails”:

Benjamin Franklin campaign trail (the south)

Alexander Hamilton campaign trail (the midwest)

Andrew Jackson campaign trail (the texMex)

Thomas Jefferson campaign trail (the west)

Gun Rights 2024

Jan 15th and 16th at the Dallas convention center

This website includes the quote “the Trump Train was amazing, but the Aguilar Aerospace will be phenomenal!”  and some amazing photographs.

At any rate, I signed up with my Proton e-mail account.

My Proton e-mail account has end-to-end encryption, which we use for anything sketchy.

And as they say on Sesame street, next will be the letter “B”.

The Mayor Who Would Be President

The Mayor Who Would Be President

By Bob Small

Though there has never been a president who from being mayor to president, Miami Mayor Francis Suarez believes he could be the first one.  The son of a former mayor, the Cuban-American is the only Hispanic among the major party candidates.

Suarez, who’s trying to channel Ronald Reagan, saying he tries “to be Reaganesque” in terms of being inclusive.  He has criticized his governor, Ron Desantis, for what he sees as his “personal vendetta” against Disney, a major employer in the state

Meanwhile, Suarez, who started as a lawyer, is being investigated by both the FBI and the SEC for $10,000 monthly payments he received from a South Florida developer for “consulting services” regarding a stalled real estate project in Coconut Grove.  This investigation is on-going.

The Mayor Who Would Be President

Suarez supports sex education and feels that limiting discussion about sex and gender in all grades is “excessive”.  He supports a national 15 week Abortion Ban.

He receives his mayoral salary in Bitcoin and is a big supporter of crypto-currency.

Suarez is not a “Trumper” and he has distanced himself from Desantis, both fellow Floridians.

He is billing himself as a “next generation leader.” He’s 45 and has a history of working with Democrats which ,as they say,  “may be a blessing and a curse”. He is also a big advocate for tech, as evidenced by his mayoral career.

He was quoted as saying “I think I can grow the tent-not for an election, but for a generation”.

Most recently, he shared his lack of knowledge in international affairs.  During an interview with conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt, responding to a question about the persecuted Uyghur people in China by responding “What’s a Uyghur?”
