Swarthmore Lawn Signs Against Mary Gay; David Galluch Explains Campaign

By Bob Small

Republican candidate David Galluch has a daunting task in front of him. He’s seeking to unseat  incumbent Congresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon in Pennsylvania’s reconfigured 5th  Congressional District.

This district now consists of Delaware County and bits and pieces of Chester and Montgomery counties, with a slice of South Philly.

After graduating from Annapolis, Galluch was selected for for the Special Operations community known as the Navy EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal), which is exactly what you think it is — IED removal (Improvised Explosive Device).

Galluch speaks of “establishing and expanding  apprenticeships,..””   In immigration, he states that “we can craft a better immigration system that prioritizes and preserves our  sovereignty, security and the rule of law, while remaining true to our core principles and [our] history as a welcoming nation.”

David Galluch, like many, bashes Philadelphia DA  Larry Krasner like a piñata. But, unlike most of the others, he has come up with a constructive suggestion of establishing mobile crime labs. He says that “by bringing a forensics team to a crime scene, evidence is processed more quickly”.

Galluch has earned a Masters Degree in Development from Cambridge University in the UK, which has one of the best such programs in the world.

As to his personal life, he and his wife have two dogs, one of his favorite books is  Catch-22,  and he works out regularly. He says that one of his goals is “to  put my phone down and live with Caroline and the dogs for a bit each day”.

Now, once, back in the two thousands, Mary Gay and I ran together on the Green Party ticket. (She ran as a  Green/Republican.) We both lost, but I got to know her a bit, and we still see each other when  she’s not busy “congressing” (or whatever she does in DC). My sense is that she is doing her best, though she is a disciple  of Ed Rendell.

There’s an anti-Scanlon movement growing, even here in Swarthmore (see attached lawn signs), and it  may be time for someone new in Congress. Whether David Galluch is that person is for the voters to decide.

Recently, I even saw Dave Galluch signs among Fetterman and Shapiro signs, but they were gone on my return.

By the way, in the historical trivia department, previous Fifth Congressional District representatives included  one Philip Swenk Markley (who served as both a Jackson-Democratic-Republican and as an anti-Jacksonian, circa 1823-1827), and he was followed by a string of Jacksonian representatives.

Jeff Bartos Wants Shapiro It Seems

Jeff Bartos Wants Shapiro It Seems — It’s being reported that establishment Republican stalwart Jeff Bartos and his wife, Sheryl, attended a Sept. 21 fundraiser for Democrat gubernatorial candidate Josh Shapiro.

Who is surprised by this?

The Democrat and Republican establishments are the same people. Check out this old story about Stradley Ronon. Shapiro at the time was the Philadelphia lobbying law firm’s counsel and Val DiGiorgio, who ran Chesco’s GOP and would become the state GOP chairman, headed its banking and public finance sections.

Bartos runs in the same circles as does Jim Greenwood and Craig Snyder and Robert Jubelirer as does Michael Chertoff and Mario Civera.

These are the guys that make your lives harder.

If you want your lives to be easier vote for the guy they don’t want.

That would be Doug Mastriano.

He is running as a Republican.

As if party labels still matter.

The Joe Soloski Campaign

The Joe Soloski Campaign

By Bob Small

Our previous post on the Keystone Party focused on the formation of the new Pennsylvania Party, the Keystone Party.

Now we are looking at Joe Soloski, the Keystone Party candidate for governor.

His almost 10-page website lists his platform which includes:

The Joe Soloski Campaign
Joe Soloski

Term limits for State Legislators

Decriminalize recreational cannabis

Eliminate the personal income tax

Eliminate personal licensing

Not changing the minimum wage

Energy Advocacy namely coal, nuclear, oil)

Reduce the emergency powers of the Governor

Sell the state store system

Cut the salaries of the Governor and the State Legislature, and

Elimination of inheritance and property taxes

I would urge everyone to read his entire agenda, all 10 pages, possibly over a pot of tea and scones.

The following answers came from answers that Joe sent me to a list of questions that I emailed him:

He is running for Governor because “change has to come form the top”.

He wants Pennsylvania to become “the tax haven that it needs to be in order to attract new businesses and residents”.

He also wants to implement ranked choice voting.

Besides winning, he would also considers a successful campaign one where they would be “reaching independent voters” and “attract them to my own campaign”.

He has benn invited to participate in a debate organized by Vreem Pittsburgh.

He expects other forums and debates. See his website for details

His planned campaign appearances include stops in Montco and Philly.

His running mate is Nicole Shultz, whom we plan to profile later.

‘Dangerous’ Toni Shuppe Responds To Shaprio Threat

‘Dangerous’ Toni Shuppe Responds To Shaprio Threat — Toni Shuppe of AuditTheVotePa mocked Democrat Josh Shapiro’s dire claim of danger that she would become Pennsylvania Secretary of State if Republican Sen. Doug Mastriano were to become governor.

“I’m a mother of three kids,” she said in a PA Real News podcast. “What in the world qualifies me to be the secretary of state of Pennsylvania?”

Leave aside that she has a mechanical engineering degree from Penn State, worked in a nuclear power plant, and started her own business, being a mom is a much better qualification than being a hungry lawyer who worked for Pennsylvania’s largest corporate cronyist.

Or a guy who lived off his parents as opposed to Toni who took care of her dad when he developed cancer.

Seriously, would you trust John Fettergirlyman to work in a nuclear power plant?

It would be real life Homer Simpson.

Toni has just one question for Shapiro in response to his Tweet about her being “dangerous”: “I just want to know from Josh Shapiro what’s so bad about a transparent election?”

Toni said that AuditTheVote did canvassing in 12 counties.

“I personally went and knocked doors with my volunteers in five different counties. In every one there were issues. Every one I would knock a door and there were more people registered to vote than actually lived there. In some cases we found people who signed affidavits saying they didn’t vote in 2020 but on record according to the State Department there is a vote assigned to them.”

She said Delaware County had a 59 percent discrepancy rate meaning the occupant said no to either he or she was living in the house at the time of the election, how many were registered at the house or how many voted and compared them to the State Department’s certified results.

She said Allegheny County had a 78 percent discrepancy rate.

She says she has become good friends and allies with vote analyst Seth Keshel.

Toni lives in Beaver County in the Pittsburgh area but travels through the state as she did in Aston on Sept. 1 to raise issues about voting issues and citizen involvement. She does it two or three days a week.

She says she has a great working relationship with Mastriano due to his early support for her efforts but is not part of his campaign and these trips are not campaign stops for him.

“If we’re campaigning for something, it’s just for voter integrity,” she said.

Chesco Sued For Unmonitored Drop Boxes

Chesco Sued For Unmonitored Drop Boxes — America First Legal (AFL) and counsel Wally Zimolong, Sept. 15, filed a second lawsuit in Pennsylvania on behalf of registered voters in Chester County, Pa. against the Chester County Board of Elections and its board members to compel their immediate compliance with Pennsylvania’s election laws in connection with ballot drop boxes.

Chesco has 13 drop boxes authorized for usage in the November general election. Voter services, however, failed to monitor two of them during the primary, according to the suit, to ensure they were being used in full compliance with the Election Code, including Pennsylvania’s statutory requirement that only one person was delivering his or her own ballot.

Especially damning was that these boxes were open 24/7.

There were security cameras impotently watching which recorded 330 individuals depositing void, invalid, or multiple ballots at once without repercussions, according to the suit.

AFL seeks the court’s immediate action to enjoin the Election Board from accepting, counting, or canvassing any ballots that contravene the lawful use of drop boxes or to receive invalid ballots from drop boxes in Chester County and commingling these with validly cast ballots and to compel the County to put into place the following measures:

  • Drop boxes must be physically monitored in-person to assure that the person delivering the ballot is only delivering his or her own ballot or is an authorized agent of a disabled voter with the proper affidavit signed by the voter and verified by the election board.
  • Chester County Election Board shall otherwise fulfill its statutory duties to ensure that void and invalid ballots are not commingled and counted in all future elections.

The lawsuit can be found here.

Ron Johnson For Pennsylvania Senate Seat

Ron Johnson For Pennsylvania Senate Seat

By Bob Small

Ron Johnson is a write-in candidate for the US Senate from Pennsylvania, with the support of the Pennsylvania Constitution Party.

No, not the incumbent senator from Wisconsin. This Ron is a disabled veteran of the Iraqi War who has worked in construction and for Walmart, until his disability caused him to quit.

He is a self-described Constitutionalist.

The Pennsylvania Constitution Party was unable to secure enough signatures to  place him on the ballot hence the write-in campaign.

Johnson’s issues include the  border wall, immigration, opposition to Covid mandates, support for parental rights in education, and  the weaponization of federal agencies.

Johnson says that he has been at the Convention of States   and at the signing of the Liberty Pledge  in New Hope

Johnson says he’s running to “keep our freedoms intact”.

He appears to be the only write-in candidate associated with an established political party.

Fetterlittlegirlyman Agrees To Debate Oz

Fetterlittlegirlyman Agrees To Debate Oz –John Fetterman who likes to call himself John Fetterwoman but should best be called John Fetterlittlegirlyman has agreed to debate Dr. Mehmet Oz in this years U.S. Senate race for Pennsylvania.

Fetterlittlegirlyman is the Democrat. Oz is the Republican.

The debate is scheduled for Oct. 25 in Harrisburg, which is just two weeks before the election and long after absentee voting has started. Fetterlittlegirlyman is demanding accommodations for his health condition, which should be noted are not allowed in debates in the Senate.

Oz is still pushing for earlier debates.

New Keystone Party Has 3 State-wide Candidates

New Keystone Party Has 3 State-wide Candidates

By Bob Small

The brand new The Keystone Party of Pennsylvania has on this year’s ballot candidates for governor, lieutenant governor, senator, and State House 93rd District.

Joe Soloski, one of the founders, is the gubernatorial candidate.

“I did not leave the Libertarian Party, the Libertarian Party left me,” Soloski said.

The breakup  occurred at The Libertarian Party Convention in March.

“The Libertarian Party became anything but an inclusive organization promoting personal liberty”, he said. “. . .Keystone was formed to promote the ideals of personal liberty, human rights,  and to be a potential new home for those independent voters that have not been able to feel at home with any party”

Their platform includes alternative currency, ending qualified immunity, an independent redistricting commission, jury nullification,  a part-time legislature, reduction of non elected and overreaching authority, and term limits and gun rights.

There has been some opposition to their formation from within their former party, The Libertarians.

“They’re a small  group of disgruntled Libertarians who ran the party for the last few years but were handily tossed out of power at the 2022 State Convention, ” said Libertarian Ken Krawchuk. “The Keystoners were more interested in playing political shenanigans on fellow libertarians than on the old party candidates.”

Krawchuk did see a bright side though.

“There are now TWO  political parties in  Pennsylvania that are pushing the Libertarian agenda,” he said.

The Keystone Party of Pennsylvania is not to be confused with Keystone United, a skinhead group.

Montco Commissioners Grilled About Unsupervised Ballot Boxes

Montco Commissioners Grilled About Unsupervised Ballot Boxes

By Pauline Braccio

Election integrity was the subject of most of those speaking before Montgomery County Board of Commissioners, Sept. 1, and many questions involved the unsupervised ballot drop-boxes placed around the county.

Also, the manner and place where the mail-ballots will be counted was brought up. As well, as the length of time people will have to vote. The mail-in ballots are slated to go out starting on Sept. 19.

That means more than 7 weeks of early voting.

Another hot topic is the unlawful interpretation of the Pennsylvania Sunshine Law. The Sunshine Law governs the way public meetings are held. The law is not being followed. Josh Stein, the current county solicitor, is the author of the Rules for Public Comment. It has been brought to his attention on several occasions in the past several months that he is violating not only the Sunshine Law, but the US Constitution, as well. Objections were raised while he was reading the “Rules.”

The new justice center is also of debate. The commissioners approved a building that will cost the residents $500 million over the next three to five years. That is half a billion! Is it any wonder taxes are climbing and will continue to do so? There was no information given as to why this colossal building is necessary. No building plans made public. This is the dream of Judge Thomas DelRicci. He is still a judge on Court of Common Pleas. DelRicci just stepped down as the President Judge.

Please come to the next meeting in person. It is 10 a.m., Thursday, Sept 15 at One Montgomery Plaza,  425 Swede St, Norristown. It is directly across Swede St from the courthouse. The meeting is held on the 8th Floor.

If you attend through Zoom, you will not have the ability to voice an objection during the meeting because your mic will be muted. This is also a violation of the Sunshine Law.

You can watch the Sept 1 meeting here or below.

Start at minute marker 17:31 to get to the beginning of the Public Comment portion and Josh Stein is reading the rules for public comment. What follows are the comments from those in attendance and on Zoom.
